Armor Grid: Mega-Pack! [BUNDLE]
Publisher: Armor Grid Games and Miniatures

A good value! The armor grid game is fast and fun and was rather easy to learn.

The added value of the terrain and camo repaints are really very good. There is enough to the terrain pack to add a lot of dimension to your games and make them about more than just walk up and slug it out.

The free products are very good.

Armor Grid: Mech Attack!
Publisher: Armor Grid Games and Miniatures
by Michael H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 11/12/2011 16:20:49

I was holding off on writing a review till I actually played the game. Well, now I have, and it was a lot of fun.

Instead of doing anything particularly sensible, we just took large mechs and packed them with destruction. His had one of each large weapon, so Heavy Missile, Heavy Cannon, Twin Linked HMG and TwinLinked Heavy Laser. Mine had all but the missile, swapped out for another cannon (because that is what I could find in the bag of weapons.) As with most battles with my nine year old son, there was no tactics. We just walked up and shot it out. In the end I had four columns of armor gone and he had one gone. I just happened to roll a mech destroyed crit first.

The rules are simple and easy to understand. The layout is logical and quick to grok. The font is not my favorite, but that really is my only gripe about the book.

The miniatures are really neat, whether your looking at the troops, vehicles or mechs, and they go together pretty well. The only problems I had were due to my own arthritic hands. Getting into the game only took me so long because I set myself too large a task of getting all of two armies done.

This game is very much what you are looking for if you want a fun alternative to a much more rules heavy giant stompy robot game.

Patrol Boat Paper Model
Publisher: Dave Graffam Models
by Michael H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/16/2011 22:42:31

Printed on three pages, the parts are really nice looking and go together very well. I got mine together in about an hour, and it looks pretty good.

Easy to size to your needs, I printed mine at 90% and it is just right for my paper miniatures. Just remember to print all three pages at the same scale.

A definite must buy for the paper craft modeller, and pretty good for anyone else. Makes for a great set piece.

A very nice refinement and slight expansion of the Savage Worlds rule system. The deluxe edition has a number of additions that are fun, but the improvement in layout and art is very good. Of the rules improvements, the Chase rules stand out as being rather streamlined and improved.

Dungeon Cards Sneak Preview
Publisher: Vulpinoid Studios
by Michael H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/08/2011 23:34:24

A very interesting idea, but not entirely accessable to the tired minded GM (oracle?) trying to grok the idea for the first time. Does not work just like your average tiles, as there is built into the idea a good amount of player input. I reckon this is not the nial version of the product (says preview right there, doesn't it) and given that I could see where this could be a lot of fun.

I'm intrigued to see where this is going. For two bucks, it is a fun product, but takes a goodish bit of work to make up to form.

RIO DRACO: Base Set
Publisher: Fat Dragon Games
by Michael H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/17/2011 21:19:02

A really nice set of building models. enough with variations to well furnish your fictional "Old West" town's main street.

The layered PDF feature allows each building model to be several different buildings. I especially like the choice between new and prosperous well painted buildings and old delapidated buildings.

The models are easy to put together and fairly durable, if made with anything as heavy as card stock or better.

Outrider
Publisher: Dice Fest Games
by Michael H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/17/2011 21:08:17

I found Outrider to fully meet my high expectations. The game really captures the feel of the genre, and there is a large element of tactical descision. The dice mechanic is simple and straightforward, but my favorite is the manuver card based movement system. No, actualy that is not my favorite part. My favorite part is thinking about the devastation I'm going to render upon the toy car aisle of the local megamart, since the game is designed so that ordinary toy cars (1/64 scale) may be used for models for it. Anyway the movement system is simple and fun, even when (or especially when) you blow the control roll. The cars are designed at time of play by allocating dice of four sizes among the car's attributes, just about making each time you play a whole new thing, assuming you move the dice around to try new combinations. In the PDF comes the rules, the cards and tokens for game play and the 2d map tiles. All of the components are well drawn and well designed and the book, only twenty pages, is very well laid out and edited. If I had any complaint at all it would be that the game is rather ink thirsty, but mostly that's my printer's fault. The components are quite easy to assemble and look fantastic when all put together. Reminds me of the fun I had as a kid playing similarly themed games. My eight year old had no trouble getting the rules, and he got right into the spirit of the game. Point being it's easy and fun enough for a child to get it while offering complexity enough for the big kids like me. He wants to play again and so do I. As my boy said, "It is awesome."

Shadowrun: Sprawl Sites
Publisher: Catalyst Game Labs
by Mike H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/08/2008 01:49:29

One of the handiest Shadowrun books ever. For the GM stuck mid adventure, theree's a handy list of random encounters, each of which could lead to a whole cycle of games, as did it once with me and my group. In another section, many maps of interesting interiors. Some new archetypes are also included, as well as a whole passel of contacts.

A must have, and if you're listening, Wizkids, a must update!

A nice product for anyone with a b/w printer or, like me, have no color ink left. Way cheaper then a vynl mat, and if you spill your coke on the play field, so what!

Good for adding hexagonal floors to a square grid dungeon product (my plan). <br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Print without color, or on color stock.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Far more childproof than non folding scenery. Fold it up, put into a file folder or envelope, and jr cannot destroy it. Not that I mind when the boy does in a whole city, but it is inconvenient. Great artwork and quality. comes with walls, steps and interior folding supports so it can hold up minis.<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Good art, great idea for those with less shelf space.
