A must have for all Samurai gamers. The level of detail and authenticity is simply stunning. The walls have integral bases giving a very stable structure. Most of the construction is very easy, with the exception of the roof on the large gate. This roof has the option of decorative trim to match the tower roof (the extra effort is worthwhile for the beautiful results). As with the tower model, a pleasing variety of roof tile colours and surface details makes for a versatile model. What makes this set even more versatile than the tower, is the option of walls with or without firing ports. The plain walls will work equally well with Christopher's Asian Temple or represent a Japanese (or even Chinese) walled city. Unreservedly recommended.

Once again Glenn Williams at Finger and Toe has come up with the goods. A worthwhile addition to any Western town, 19th Century, Steampunk or Modern. The real beauty of Glenn's work is his insistence on copying from existing buildings. This set is fantastic value for money as you get five models, one for each colour scheme, each with two optional signs. The double roof and the chimney are a little tricky but well worth the effort. My only advice for those who want to make these lovely models even better is this. For extra stability on the porch, you may wish to extend the bottom of the posts and cut holes in the walkway for them. If you are fixing the sign to the porch, I would suggest Photoshopping a back panel. Highly recommended

I had been looking for a 28mm American Locomotive and was beginning to despair when I was pointed in the direction of this little beauty. At $12 it appears a little expensive for a PDF model, but what you get justifies the price. The completed model comprises; Locomotive and Tender, Passenger Car, Boxcar, Flatcar and Caboose. In addition you get a nice little Station, Water Tower and some track sections. All appear accurate for 1850-1885 making this model ideal for ACW, Wild West and maybe even Mexican Revolution. The model prints cleanly, with a decent level of detail. My only complaint being the lack of interior cab details on the Locomotive, I was able to kit-bash a suitable cab interior by duplicating the cab and Photoshopping some details. The simple idea of reverse folding the bogies to give a realistic overhang is inspired. I decided to cut away a lot of the dead space between the wheels and car bogies and make extra bracers. All this extra work is not essential but I feel a bit more visible track looks better than a white void. The level of detail is superb, particularly on the Passenger Car, although the end platforms and dormer are a little tricky to build. The Station is easy to build and nicely textured, the general style would fit well with Hotz "Whitewash City". I would recommend fitting internal corner braces (or maybe laminating the walls from the inside) for extra rigidity. There is enough room on the page to create tabs for basing.I would also suggest cutting away as much empty space as possible on the porch (not just the area that says Cut Out) as it will look more realistic without weakening the model. I would recommend building the Water Tower as per the instructions, after colouring the white areas with a light blue pencil. To conclude, the only major disappointment with this set is the instruction leaflet, three pages of text, with one basic sketch, is not the way to do instructions. As an experienced card modeller, I was forced to print the entire model and check my references before the meager instructions made sense. A lovely model, with the potential to be even better. Well worth the effort.

The latest addition to Glenn's Wild West collection takes us back to Lincoln, NM. The Bunkhouse is a very neat building with space for up to 10 figures inside. Detailing, inside and out is superb, right down to the external chimney. Construction is very easy, an experienced model maker could put one together in an hour or two. I would recommend a few small tweaks, if you are planning to have the roof removable. I cut the support pillars 3mm over length and sunk them into the base. I also notched the chimney end of the roof to give an equal overhang at both ends. These modifications are not necessary but are worth the extra effort. Another lovely structure from Glenn at a very affordable price. Whether you do Wild West, ACW or modern, you will find this useful to have in your store.

A delightful little model and fantastic value for money. Like the Shotgun House, you only get one interior for no less than five buildings. My recommendation is to print an interior for every one and include them. These little beauties will look right in almost any rural setting and some industrial ones. So easy to put together, I built two in twenty minutes while watching a movie.

One of the most useful models I've come across and one of the easiest to build. The Shotgun House is truly an American classic. These little buildings were seen all over the United States and can still be found today. It is not a great stretch of the imagination to observe the similarities to modern holiday chalets. this building wouldn't look out of place on a trailer park. Construction was simplicity itself. Each side wall is a continuation of a gable end. It is simply a case of folding along the corners and joining the tabs on the open ends. Fix to the base, add a porch and glue on the roof. For a mere $2 you get four different coloured houses. A roof and an outhouse (you need to print one roof per set of walls) are included on a fifth page. A detailed interior texture is supplied on the final page, for those who like to game inside the buildings. I was even able to kit-bash a Dry Goods store from one these beauties. Highly recommended.

If you liked Adobeville, you'll love this. For those who are not familiar with the original set, it is modular system comprising floors, support girders, ceilings and interchangeable wall blocks. These go together to make room modules. In addition, their are tiled roofs, a flat roof with parapet, a well and so much more. The ideal start for building everything from a desert fort to a Mediterranean walled farm. Glenn Williams listened to his customers and didn't stop there. Adobeville II takes this concept so much further. By adding the models in this set to the basic set, it is possible to create a simple Mosque or Spanish Mission, amongst other possibilities. You get a Minaret, a Mission Bell tower, two styles of balcony (one with a porch that converts to a cloister), gateways, a firing step and a lean to. Also included are gate inserts and blank walls for the basic modules, should you wish to include storerooms or stables. As if all this were not enough, a selection of "cut and paste" doors and windows (Turkish, modern and futuristic) are included to further adapt the basic set. If you're looking for a versatile 28mm system get Adobeville, then get this (you could even include the Lincoln NM, Watchtower). Highly recommended.

Another stunning departure from the typical Wild West clapboard. In many ways, these two Churches are even more useful than the Businesses from this collection. The Catholic and Protestant churches depicted here are authentic copies of the ones in Lincoln, NM, researched on the spot. If you want something that is full of period flavour, without being "Clapboard Gothic", you have the genuine article. The great plus is the simplicity of design, and construction. These are classic mission churches that would not be out of place anywhere from the American South-west to Central Africa. The Catholic church is even more versatile than the Protestant one in this respect. The small size and simplicity of these models also makes them usable with older 25mm miniatures and maybe some 20mm. The timeless quality of these buildings means, although they are intended for the 1880's, they could be used for any period from 1810 to the near future. Construction is very simple and quick with no difficulties. Like all the buildings in this collection, a base with an optional interior floor and ruined corners is included. I would not hesitate in recommending these lovely little models.

There are other Wild West building kits available, so why buy the Lincoln, New Mexico collection? To coin a popular phrase, "You're not in Kansas now". The Lincoln collection is the authentic South-west from the hand of a man who knows the neighbourhood. It is see, by comparing these lovely little models to period and modern photos, that this is a real town referenced on the spot. Glenn Williams would describe this range as a labour of love and a homecoming, something that shows in the models. The predominantly adobe buildings are a wonderfully refreshing departure from the "Hollywood" depictions of Abilene, Kansas. Every building comes with an individual base and interior floor. The option is given to attach the building, permanently, to the base or make it slip over a set of ruined corners. The latter option, not as difficult as it sounds, is probably the better. Construction is so simple an experienced model maker could put one together in half an hour. The two buildings in this set are pretty unique for this genre. The General Dealer has the familiar clapboard frontage on a classic adobe building. The Cantina is even more unusual. This is not your typical Western Saloon, it is single storey adobe building with a roof that pitches in four directions. This classic Mexican building has the look of a C19th Diner. Highly recommended and at $2:50 for two models, Glenn is almost giving these away.

One word describes this model "beautiful". The almost golden colour of the timber framing and roof make this building stand out from the rest of the town or village you place it in. The fine scroll detailing lifts it even further. The fact this building is not obviously an Apothecary, only adds to its usefulness. The annex can be a little tricky, as can the wall dormers, but the model still comes together very easily. As with the Asylum, I would recommend basing on heavy card. Highly recommended.

An excellent model at a really cheap price. As an older Rake's Corner building, the Asylum was best based on very thick card (sketchbook backs are great for this). The shape of the base would have shown up any problems with foam-board. The only difficult item was the balcony. The thick hollow platform and system of beams was a little tricky, but with time and patience, the results are well worth the effort. A fine addition to any fantasy collection but also suitable for Gothic horror and many historical settings. I would hesitate to recommend this model to a novice, get a few simpler models under your belt first. That being said, a must have for any buildings collection.

If anything, this map is even more useful than Dave's Cobblestone Map. The more regular pattern of streets and the inclusion of a canal effectively update it to an Early Victorian setting, should you wish to take that option. As with the other map, you get the option of printing for two different paper sizes without adjusting your printer, thus no subtle scale difference, or full size. The only odd thing is the fact this map is for Rake's Corner. The finished map is larger than the other one yet represents a part of town for which Dave has produced fewer buildings. Maybe he's planning something to fill the empty plots?

In my humble opinion, this is what the gaming world has been waiting for. Terrain tiles are a great idea but lack the simplicity of a cloth. If you have a limited time to set up a table for a game, you don't want to spend half an hour laying out tiles and hoping they stay in place. The traditional green cloth is fine for open field scenarios but when you have to add roads and rivers the same problem arises. Dave Graffam has come up with the ideal solution to the pre-industrial built up area. I took the full size option and had this printed full size onto vinyl for my club. We now have a fully detailed road system big enough to, almost, cover a 6'x4' gaming table. If properly stored it has a life of about five years. All I need to do now is complete enough buildings to fill the gaps. Highly recommended.

Sometimes a model is the sum of its parts. The real beauty of this set is the modular design. Every item from the buildings to the ramparts can be built as standalone models, kit-bashers will have great fun finding other uses and configurations for the many parts. The French language instructions are well laid out and have clear, detailed pictures for every step. The only real negative is the complexity of some parts. For example, on a similar American model, a simple box like building will have the doors and windows printed on and most, if not all, sides joined on at least one edge. GPMS, probably looking at the conversion potential, supply all the walls, roof and floor of the larger building as individual parts with the addition of internal supports. The doors are windows are also on separate pages and probably best glued in place before construction of that module. That aside, the completed model is very realistic and nicely detailed. The conversion potential, as I have said, is mind boggling. Whether you want to create a modern fort or a simple shanty town, this set is definitely worth the money and effort. Superb

Why do I need more crates and boxes? A set like this is always useful especially as many of the crates in this set are not specifically Sci-Fi. You get a good range of sizes and variations at an excellent price. If you're new to card modelling, this set is an excellent place to start. What could be easier than making boxes? Whether you want to fill up modern warehouses or provide some cover at your spaceport, I can heartily recommend these. A word to the wise, however, you could end up with so many miniature crates, you'll need to investin some boxes to store them in.
