Time & Time Again (Level 19 PCs)
by Eric H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/16/2017 12:23:27

The layout was very good for helping me as the DM to prepare for this adventure. The maps have notated plot and interest points on them and the story is unique which in my opinion also helped keep the party on the story line rather than skipping 80% of an adventure with creative use of spells. You will definately want to record the party's questions they have for their future selves and ask it back to them when the time comes. I would strongly recommend buffing every monster or at least the last encounter if your party is well geared or has more than 4 players. As-is this adventure should take about 4 hours depending on how efficient your party is at dispatching foes.

Ebonclad - A Thieves' Guild Setting & Adventures
by Jonathan P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/10/2017 11:48:40

Still reading through it, so I may update this review.

A great supplement for any 5e Game especially if you like rogue-like settings

As said in the description, this setting isn't just for Rogues. A crime filled city is a great setting for any party to explore. All the details to the history, heirarchy and guilds really fleshes out the setting and feel of this city. I'm going to break it down by chapters I've read and my thoughts on them:

Chapter 1: Kintalla, The Silver City Dan does a great job of creating a city with rich history. He also fleshes out the numerous guilds and organizations and how they operate in the city. There's plenty to use here, including random NPC encounters that could lead to a whole new quest line. As well as suggested buildings that your party can visit. It feels like a well written novel.

Chapter 2: Guild Ebonclad This is where this supplement shines. You could even just use this chapter and throw the guild into any city already in your campaign. The hierarchy is extensive and provides options to keep a campaign running for years as your party climbs the rungs of Ebonclad. As well as Cost of Services for all guild actions, really allowing you to create your own "jobs" for your party to complete. The Prominent Members and other notable guild NPCs are as always fleshed out masterpieces of Dan Coleman. They are interesting and unique characters that your party will surely remember. The Life as a Member provide great opportunites for roleplaying, I can't wait to try and speak Eboncant (a variation on Thieve's Cant) with my players. He's really created a magical guild that runs a city, and fleshes out roles for each different class in Ebonclad.

Chapter 3: A Life of Crime This section has great tables and options for how NPCs will react to crimes, creating random NPCs (what kind of wealth, who they're associated with, etc.), as well as the type of loot you can find on NPCs and how to acquire it (cutting purses, pickpocketing, etc.), where and how the guard might bump into your party and last but not least, NEW URBAN CHASE COMPLICATIONS. This is a great section to add to any urban city if you have party members who love to drum up crime in a busy city.

Chapter 4: Setting Options New Class Options, Backgrounds and suggestions for how Classes will behave in the Guild. Great section for creating new characters who grew up in Kintalla or the city with Ebonclad. The new spells looks like a lot of fun for any member of the guild. But the new Equipment, Weapons and Potions is where this section shines for me. Great new gear to get around an urban environment without being too loud or noisey. Wrist Daggers? Yes please!

Chapter 5: Missions Here, Dan outlines some sample missons for a party of level 1-5 as well as giving rules to create your own. They are so easily adjusted to higher levels though, so it wouldn't be a problem if you wanted to play at a higher level. Almost all of the missons are very open-ended, great for a DM that likes to improvise and a party that likes to make their own path. Using the other chapters you can really personalize these missions and allow your party to run rampant around the city. Or, just follow them to the letter and still have a blast. My favorite so far is Wedding Bells in which the party is tasked with stopping a noble wedding without harming the betrothed...

Appendices Dan put all the tables, maps and NPCs in a handy set of Appendices in the back. I haven't read through them all though.

Bonus! Short Stories Inbetween every few chapters are short stories (one page long) that really add to the flavor of this supplement. They really set the scene and theme for Kintalla and Ebonclad. Also, great suggestions for possible missions and NPCs. I loved every single one.

So, Should I get it? Do you like urban city settings with slums and a love for crime? Does your party like to commit crimes and try to get away with them? Have you read Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows Duology and thought, I'd love to play a D&D game in a similar setting? Do you love Dan Coleman's work on Dungeons on Demand? Then Yes!

If you're looking for a fully fleshed out module, or something that doesn't require a DM to think on their feet and improvise on the spot? Maybe not. This is a great supplement for creating a new campaign that can last a long time. If this type of setting doesn't interest you, look elsewhere.

Ebonclad - A Thieves' Guild Setting & Adventures
by Erwin S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/04/2017 04:18:48

This is a brand new product from the mind of the same guys as Dungeons on Demand and it's top notch. It's a complete campaign setting set in the city of Kintalla with adventures, new backgrounds, new subclasses, feats, equipment and spells. If you're looking for some kind of roguish adventure (mind you this is not just for rogues) give this title a try and if you're uncertain about the quality look up the recent Kickstarter Campaign through which this is funded for more details https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dancoleman/ebonclad-a-5e-dnd-thieves-guild-setting-7-new-adve/description .

Dungeons on Demand: Volume One
by Kyle H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/14/2017 12:50:46

I just purchased this set and haven't yet had a chance to integrate it. However, the materials are professionally produced, well thought out, and well organized. I bought these after trying one of the "pay what you want" adventures by Dan Coleman Productions. I really liked it and decided it was worth puchasing some more. They are really nicely used as plug-in adventures when things are a little too busy to prep a full adventure or dungeon one week. I will definitely keep my eye on some of the other volumes of these adventures to add to my campaign as I need them.

Weapons of Legacy
by James P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/17/2017 13:01:29

Love this idea, had been thinking about something like this myself and this really brought the idea together. I proposed it to my players and they liked the idea 2. I have so far made one original item myself and am in the process of modifying another know that I know the play it is meant for will love. I think this may be the best money I have spent on D&D so far. I am a new DM so maybe if you are experienced this wouldn't be so cool but I thought it was great and so glad I found it. Definitly recommend.

Eyes on the Prize (Level 10 PCs)
by Mike v. S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/08/2017 05:43:17

I love the Dungeons on Demand adventures series. They are so easy to fit in to an existing campaign when I need some more time to prepare on other stuff. I understand levels 1-20 are covered at the moment but I would really buy another series of adventures!

I used Eyes on the Prize as a special hidden entrance into a desert fort in the mountains of Anauroch. Just a small detour before a big climactic battle with the blue Wyrmspeaker (we started playing Rise of Tiamat but we went off track really fast, leaving all of the source material behind us).

spoiler alert

The only thing that bugged me about this adventure is the Oculisk. What is an oculisk? I scoured google but couldn't find anything on them.. Otherwise, great adventure! Loved the lineair approach of the dungeon.

Bandit's Nest (Level 1 PCs)
by Joseph B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/28/2017 08:27:41

THey did a good job of labeling the map with icons so you can find everything right way. They thought out what happens if creature were unware. There was enough touches of detail (that extra something) that my players will remember it and keep refering to it. The only thing is the harpery's luring song reaches a huge distance since it auditor. It can easily effect the Kenku in the adjacent area if not the whole map. Since it based on hearing and the harpy couldn't see the party or the kenku until they reached her it caused a lot of confusion (good confusion), but that was never addressed. They explained how both enemies viewed the other which made resolving the situation easy.

I would recommend the adventure.

Weapons of Legacy
by Jonathan E. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/13/2017 13:22:37

I love this supplement. It's a great way to make some VERY cool magic items. Who wants a +1 sword? Well, at low level who doesn't? HOWEVER, isn't it much cooler to have that +1 sword be able to become so much MORE?

This supplement adds so much personality to a magic weapon and allows the characters who wield it to form a bond with it. It's much more than just another magic sword or armor or shield, it's another character.

Cryptic Entry (Level 1 PCs)
by Kyle H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/03/2017 10:26:00

Beautifully put together materials. Very clear and well marked maps. Fun and engaging storyline with integrated characters.

I ran this as a first time DM with 2 First Time PCs and 1 more experienced character. I'd played myself before, so was familiar with standard play. Moving from being a PC to a DM myself, these materials were really good and provided a lot of fun options to think and play through as the DM. It was also fun for the PCs in the group. I didn't adjust the difficulty of encounters for having only 3 PCs compared to 4, but it worked out fine, mostly because my dice as the DM seemed to go cold in comparison to the party.

I'd definitely recommend anything put together by this group as good plug-n-play adventures within a larger campaign as a DM.

Out for Blood (Level 15 PCs)
by A customer [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/09/2016 16:29:39

Great content. As a lazy DM, I wish there was a little more roleplay elements added to the ball section but it's easy enough to just adlib and create some interesting roleplay with some of the prominent NPCs beforehand. Post ball, it's a solid dungeon crawl with some dangerous fights. Very easy adventure to customize as well. I sliced about a third of the content and ran a VERY abridged version for about five hours with three players and still didn't finish. Good stuff though.

The fourth installment follows the excellent contnent of the previous ones. I would recommend all the series to anyone. As before the adventures are supplied with a really helpful map for the DM, with markers for different points of interest, but also a spoiler free map for the players.

Bandit's Nest (Level 1 PCs)
by Joseph C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/15/2016 14:07:01

This is the first adventure I ran for my 5th edition campaign and the first one in a homebrew world that I had just created. With a few tweaks to the adventure background for the site featured in the adventure, it made for a great springboard into my campaign setting with a storyline that persists even now. As an introductory adventure, this is a great departure from usual first-level fodder of "fight the kobolds or goblins and save the town". The use of kenku in this adventure made for some nice surprises for the group of veteran D&D players who were expecting the same old thing. Like other adventures by this publisher, it includes well-detailed areas with icons on the map keyed to specific types of encounters in a given area (combat, puzzle, treasure, clue) that makes it quick and easy to run with little prep work other than reading. Monster statistics are referenced by page number and tactics and roleplaying notes for running the kenku are included, making an underappreciated D&D monster a unique type of foe with their own mannerisms.

Great starter adventure for your group!

An Axe to Grind (Level 3 PCs)
by Joseph C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/15/2016 10:36:42

I have recently been recruited to run some monthly "event" games not unlike the type you would have at a gaming convention and these adventures have been a Crom-send. They are self-contained, well-organized, and have enough level of detail to allow easy tweaks but not to seem like a slap-dash template. They reduce the amount of prep-work needed (handy when I run two other full-time campaigns of my own) and the use of icons on the maps and in the area descriptions really helps you run the game quickly without a lot of thumbing back and forth to find something. The monster stats include page references to the Monster Manual and the tactics for how to run the combat. They also include role-playing notes for key NPCs, adventure hooks and rumors, and nice area maps with just the level of detail needed to run the adventure but not as crude as a lot of indie adventures. And the map of each area is right there next to the area description--no flipping back and forth required.

I highly recommend these adventures, especially for one-shots or event play. They are easy to run, quick to prep for, and have plenty of fun angles and plots to give a fresh feel to the game. And they are easy to dump into any setting with few tweaks. Perfect!
