Cities & Towns

Solid product with an overview of five different settlements with map, relevant places and adventure hooks. Tons of role-playing opportunities. My highest recommendation.

An Axe to Grind (Level 3 PCs)
by Stephen C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/06/2021 18:13:54

As another reviewer noted, this adventure is incredibly easy to follow. In reading it, I didn't have to do a bunch of thumbing around to find this detail or that detail. Everything you need for an encounter is right there with it. Some might call it repetetive, but I found it helpful, and with digital content not having to worry about physical page count resources, there's no down side. Also a fun story with interesting encounters.

First NPC collection I've seen that successfully delivers NPC's that are interesting/decent in combat, memorable and useful as characters, and able to dropped into a campaign with their prewritten hooks without having to do a ton of prep changes

Breaking Hearts - A Valentine's Day Adventure (Level 3 - 5 PCs)
by JEROME M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/15/2021 18:18:16

Grabbed this for a short fun Valentine's Day themed encounter!

This was a well-written and simply presented add-on adventure that can be added to any campaign with very little work. I included this encounter in part of our hex crawl for Rise of the Drow and it blended right in seamlessly.

The stats are included for D&D5E, but the adventure converts easily into the system of your choice with minimal effort. The geomorphic nature of the map can take a second to get used to, but once you decide that fun is the order of the day, you won't be too worried about the silhouettes and spoilers that seem to be included on the map.

The story of the Succubus looking to complete her ritual was easy enough that all I had to do was figure out who went missing from the group that our PCs would actually go out to save. The connections are loose enough, that it is very easy to blend into whatever is going on in your campaign. The cavern itself only took a few hours to run through, so it works quite well for a one-shot one-night only adventure.

I converted it to Pathfinder First Edition by grabbing the stats for the Succubus out of Bestiary 1, converted the Culpids to Dretch variants, and then grabbed the quipper fish stats from the Tome of Horrors Complete from Frog God Games.

It was fun, the fight with the succubus was challenging, and the party loved the final realization that the entire cave was shaped like a heart.

Light-hearted, easily adaptable, and fun to run. Grab it for your Valentine's Day adventure today!

Classes of Distinction
by Elijah W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/22/2021 13:45:25

I'm hesitant to give 5 stars only because I haven't seen any of these archetypes tested. Personally, I would still recommend this just because the archetypes are so conceptually/thematically cool. I've never seen a time-based class that was so accessible. A lot of these archetypes--the bard college of the muse, the trapper ranger, the alpha barbarian, etc--read like something that should have been in the PHB. These archetypes scratch an itch.

Cryptic Entry (Level 1 PCs)
by DA R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/10/2020 04:55:41

I apologise for the lengthy review, but this is the first adventure I've ran as a DM, and it dug me out of a hole. I couldn't reccomend it enough and with the option of it being free? What do you have to lose checking it out?

My group and I had been planning for a few weeks to get a campaign going, I had everything set to start the Dungeon of Rickedness for them since it's a fun, light adventure that covers a bit of everything for the main components of D&D, and they're all brand new to the game...Then a week before we were supposed to start, one of our group members told me she was going to be visiting her sister that weekend and couldn't play. Not wanting to disapoint the rest of the group, nor start the planned adventure without all of them I said I would find something to fill the spot. Fast forward to game day after a week of getting my kid set up with school and I had nothing, not to mention it's two hours before we're supposed to play.

I came here hoping to find something small to fill the spot when I came upon Cryptic Entry, it seemed like a good length at a glance, had a fair bit of material, and I had the option of it not costing me anything due to my neglegence. I thought it was going to be good, but I honestly didn't expect it to be as detailed as it was or my group to love it as much as they did. I fully plan on purchasing his bundles, and his Dungeons on Demand sets to add to my collection. The fact that I was literally able to get this going on Roll20 within 2 hours of getting it with no "proper" experience as a DM, made it invaluable.

Time & Time Again (Level 19 PCs)
by Sam S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/07/2020 14:07:51

A fun back and forth using the "same" map but in different time periods. My players ended up figuring out the puzzles after they returned to the present, so they didn't have access to the tree branches, but they had fun telling future them that.

For Whom the Bell Tolls (Level 17 PCs)
by Sam S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/07/2020 14:04:43

I put this adventure in my campaign and the players loved it. I suggest DMs have one of the first angels tell the party the bell is headed to the material plane since that gives the players the most interest in stopping them (rather than just accepting their demands to leave).I think the encounters lean too easy in general and suggest DMs balance for their party. All that said, I'd definitely run this again for another group.

Bandit's Nest (Level 1 PCs)
by Tony R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/10/2020 19:29:52

A great introductory campaign for new players that can be easily completed in one sitting. We played it with three level 1 characters using Hook 3 which turned into a rework / revised version of Hook 2 when one of the characters died in the first encounter. Ooops.... Turned out to be a good lesson for new players that actions have consequences.

All in all, everyone had a great time, definitely worth the few sheckles.

Old Habits (Level 13 PCs)
by Matthew J. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/21/2020 13:40:01

I've run this adventure twice and had great responses both times. The maps are clear and easy to use. The story gives plenty of background to flesh things out for players who are looking for more info, while still running perfectly well if they want to just steamroll forward and kill some mummies. There's a nice mix of combat, social interaction, and even a little puzzle-solving. Overall, an excellent purchase - I've picked up a few more of Dan's products to have ready for when I need a quick one-shot. Definitely recommended!

Fierce Tempers (Level 8 PCs)
by Henrik C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/11/2020 14:50:36

Great adventure. Perfect as a stand-alone, and easy to implement with a few tweaks to a campaign. Well drawn maps and detailed description of every room. Works very well with VTT like Roll20 where i ran it.

Took about 4 sessions to get through the dungeon. My players got some social roleplay out of it aswell, as the different factions down there easily allow for it if your party is willing.

At the end the party might be sitting on some pretty powerful items, that can propell a story forward (currently waiting to see the outcome in my campaign!).

A few comments i will leave in the discussion area.

NPC Codex
by Edward K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/04/2020 18:56:24

A good variety of characters, who could fit in many types of campaigns. The illustrations are good, and the characters range from "pretty normal", which is mostly what I want, to "would fit someone else's campaign better" but might be interesting offbeat in mine".

My favorites are Ace the Archer, who as they describe could be an assassin, love interest, or rival. Huey the Minotaur, whow for some reason tends to get kicked out of parties he joins. Idrina the pub owner with a secret. Marius the ronin knight. And Shifty the Kobold Pirate.
