Ottobre MCCCXLVII
by William W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 04/22/2020 18:02:15

Very spooky and atmospheric audio track that would be great background music for most any horror game. Inlcludes wind, bells, gongs, and some growling low strings, synths, and horns. It loops fairly well with only a brief pause. Black Goat always does great work that is well worth a listen.

Through Their Haunted Eyes
by Lawrence A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/11/2017 17:32:46

Great atmospheric music utterly ruined by an announcement at the end that this track was purchased on DrivethruRPG.com before proceeding to spit out my order number. What? Why?

UPDATE: I really appreciate the customer focus and care Black Goat Games demonstrated. There's no longer an audio watermark, and I can whole-heartedly recommend this track at 5 stars! THANKS BLACK GOAT GAMES!

Hey Lawrence! First off, I'm super stoked you dig my track. Thank you! :) However, whatever that is at the end of the track, I had nothing to do with it. I really have no idea that was even there (because I did not add it and have zero idea what your order number would be in advance when I'm creating the track, you see). I'm happy to drop OBS (the folks who run this site and Drive Thru) and see what the issue is. Your 1-star review reflects my track, you see, and not this issue. Hopefully, once we figure things out, said star-rating can be changed (if that's cool). Regardless, I really appreciate the heads up! Cheers, Steve

Update: Okay! The issue has been fixed. For some reason, the PDF watermark was engaged, which I guess defaults to an audio watermark now. Weird. I remember making sure that was not selected, anyway. Ah, well, my sincere apologies. Give it another download, and it should work just fine now. :)

Ye Nerterological Abecedarium: A is for Arjetkainen
by Jeff W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/17/2014 01:21:10

Are you tired of throwing two scoops of garden-variety undead at your party each session? Longing for something to make them sit up and take notice? Fret not; Black Goat Games is here with the Arjetkainen!

Picture if you will.. A powerful lich confronts the noble band of adventurers, begging for assistance. "You gotta help me.. I don't even LIKE cats! It's in my headheadheadheadheadhead oh hello Mr Goose! Let me sing you the song of my people." And then the lich, known far and wide as the scourge of the northern wastes, spends 3 hours desperately singing arias to a flock of confused geese.

If you think the adventurers will be confused, imagine how the lich feels!

Hungry. He feels hungry. He hungers for flesh, and his favorite spice is madness. Hey now.. adventuring could be considered a form of madness, right? Yeah! What sane person would delve into unknown, trap-filled murder holes in search of probably-not-there reward? No sane person, that's who. Yeah, lets eat the adventurers! Wait.. where did they go? DAMMIT! They got away! Oh well.. let's got get more cats. Yeah, cats are nice.

If you laughed your GameMaster laugh at any point, you owe yourself this supplement.

Little Things: The First Offering
by Rafael C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/01/2014 16:21:51

This nasty little system-agnostic sourcebook features 29 pages of strangeness, including:

  • New monsters, like the dimension-hopping Krofron -- which, depending on the GM's roll, might be searching for kidneys to harvest or human flesh to eat. Fun details, well-written.

  • Random tables -- names for villages (Clawpoint), weird secrets ("The candlestick maker uses babies as one of their ingredients"), and random room details ("A young woman named Alzbeta is crying for some reason"). It's vile food for thought.

  • Cornerstone Keep, a five-page mini-setting with NPCs, info about the region, and disturbing secrets.

If you're looking for new grotesquerie to inject into a dark fantasy RPG, you might dig Little Things.

Little Things: The First Offering
by Riley V. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/16/2014 14:30:14

If you'd like a few dark ideas for your fantasy games, I think you might like Little Things. It's got some good ideas, but it feels a little short to me. Since half of the content is available freely online, and the other half is mostly just tables, it also feels a little like a grab bag of stuff based around a general grimdark theme.

Still for BGG's first foray into published material, it's off to a promising start. I think one should consider Little Things more of a sampler of the dark content that Black Goat Games can and will output in the future.

Thanks for the great, honest review, sir! Also, the review on your site is quite expanded and very well done, I feel. It\'s excellent feedback that helps make future products more, well, excellent. (Excellenter?) I do want to note (for those reading) that some of the the freebies on the site will be cut down and will be offered up on here, in better laid out, newly edited form, as Pay What You Want. That\'s what I\'m working on at this very moment, in fact. Aside from typing this out, I mean. Cheers! Steve

If tables are sexy (and they are), then tables with internal sub-tables are downright erotic. If I still have your attention, then it may please you to know that this little thing delivers precisely one score of tables (not counting sub-tables, of which there are seven). You will also be delighted, or perhaps repulsed, I don't know, with a few creatures, a location, and a nice blank floorplan for you to fill with your devious stuff.

Little Things: The First Offering

The creatures and features contained in Little Things spring from the dark places and like peppercorns, cobwebs and those little bugs that roll up when you poke them, they can be as amusing or terrifying as you choose -- it is a question of scale.
