Medieval Stock Art Pack
by Matt F. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/23/2013 07:54:34

This is a bunch of Photoshop makeovers of pictures of modern era people in costumes. There is nothing here that I can use in any professional or private project. I want my money back.

Coffee & Go Nuts
by Mitchell L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/06/2005 00:00:00

Well, First things first, in case you didn't know, this is a one-shot, beer-and-pretzals style game. PL5, M&M Adventure.

Also, it's not worth the $5.00.

LIKED: Well, the IDEA was rather good, and some of the puns are sorta funny. (MIB...With Aprons!)

This adventure would make a good "one-shot" if you are out of ideas.

DISLIKED: Well, it's EXTREMELY setting specific, filled with Railroading, VERY straightforward, the characters aren't well-designed.

This is NOT an adventure that can be dropped into another campaign. Everything about it SCREAMS setting-specific...It just wouldn't WORK unless you were playing a member of "Spoo"...

Also, it's PL5, so you'd have to boost the characters...and they're not really worth it...

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Ripped Off
As exactly described in the description. The game is an adventrure for PL 5. The game is more geared toward Spy Humor then Super Hero. A change of pace for those wanting to try something new. PL5 was used for a more realistic feel for highly skilled Agents. Boosting your characters is optional only if you want to convert it to a Super Hero Adventure. Thank you again or your input.

Coffee & Go Nuts
by Chris J. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/24/2005 00:00:00

Not very happy with this purchase at all. To start with the description doesn't mention the fact that it's a prepackaged adventure for PL5 characters who are assumed to be members of a secret organisation called... wait for it.. SPOO.

Yes this is a comedy adventure at 1/2 the standard PL of the game. As a result it's of very little use to most Mutants & Masterminds GMs.

Layout is basic Word standard, apart from the covers and the NPC sheets (which are quite well done). The adventure is very badly organised there's no description of the SPOO organisation, and it's not clear whether the SPOO characters at the start of the book are supposed to be pregens.

On the plus side nearly half this PDF's pages include maps or floorplans. Unfortunately they are very basic, looking like they've been done with the Draw function in MS Word. None are gridded or have any scale listed, and all look like the artist has simply drawn a square box and put a few shapes inside.

LIKED: The basic idea - that a certain worldwide coffee shop chain is the front for a secret conspiracy, is quite a good one. But it's an idea that deserved a much better treatment.

If you wanted to introduce players to the M&M system, this might make an amusing one shot.

DISLIKED: Poor quality. This is not worth $5

But my main beef is with the failure to correctly describe this product on the RPGNow product page. Had this said "A pre-prepared humourous adventure for 2-4 PL5 characters", I would have known to pass this by.

QUALITY: Poor

VALUE: Ripped Off
The listing of this item as an adventure was an oversight. It have been corrected in the decsription text. Thank you for your input.

Weaknesses Revealed
by Chris J. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/22/2005 00:00:00

This product is a list of sample Weaknesses at various levels (2pp, 5pp, 10pp and a couple at the new 15pp "severe" level)

It looks like the authors have basically ported Disadvantages over from another popular superhero RPG. Unfortunately that other game has a different concept of what a weakness is. Some of these listed here are no more than personality quirks that at best don't really hinder the character and at worst are just excuses for anti-social play.

A lot of Weaknesses are poorly thought out. For example, this PDF lists both "Secret Identity" and "Public Identity" as weaknesses. There are some duplicate weaknesses that differ only by name "Arch Enemy" and "Hunted", and "Body Language" and "Easy to Read" spring to mind.

It rounds out with a list of phobias a character can have. Or rather a list of things a character can be phobic about. It would have been nice if this had actually listed the phobia names.

Apart from an excellent looking cover, this PDF is basicaly laid out to Word document standards - no internal art or layout of any kind.

On the whole, it's hard to justify the $5 pricetag for this, and that's not something I'd say often about PDFs on RPGNow.

LIKED: A couple of these Weaknesses might be useful if porting over a Champions character to M&M. But serious GM discretion is advised if you let your PCs near this stuff, otherwise you're going to wind up with weakness lists the size of your arm. The cover graphic is simple but really striking.

DISLIKED: Using the weaknesses in this PDF will go against the original M&M design philosophy of one or two major disadvantages. Ironically the author seems to realise this, as they point out on the first page that "A Weakness that doesn't hinder the character is no weakness at all." Unfortunately they seem to have ignored their own advice.

QUALITY: Disappointing

VALUE: Disappointed
Weaknesses Revealed
by Mary J. J. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/15/2005 00:00:00

Certainly not bad to have a quick reference guide for weaknesses and flaws. Nothing really new to shake up a good roleplayer. The ease of having something quick and dirty nearby, however, if probably worth the price and time. ;)

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
