Three pages for 99 cents sounds like a lot, but there's a lot crammed into this product. This reminds me of the old "Heroes Of" books, except that it allows non-traditional families, which is a significant plus to me and one of the reasons I bought it. I'm really looking forward to using it, which is always a good sign!

This introduces the undergraduate degree as a term during character generation. It dovetails with the Grad School supplement. In fact, I don't quite see why the two are in two different documents. I like how doing a term in university do not count towards -1DM for qualifying to other terms later on, but incurs a chance of running into debt and entering life later.

This product is basically a copy of two pages of Mongoose’s Traveller game. Nothing new to see, pretty much useless on it’s own, and flatly it seems that somebody is attempting to make a bit of easy profit out of an open system SRD.

There are no rules for generating characteristic scores in the Traveller SRD; this product fills that gap. There is nothing to say that SRDs have to be free - the Pathfinder core rulebook is not free yet that is a SRD/OGC; Mongoose publishing\'s own Legend series are all SRDs/OGC and they are not free either. |

This product allows your character to expand their academic qualifications after they have completed university. This will give them a few more skills and more experience before starting a career.

This option for character generation in Traveller is very useful and helps to flesh out the character's background, skills and experience. Another great product from UMP.

This is a really, really useful product! It contains rules to generate your character's height, weight (or mass) and hair, eye and skin colour which are not available in other products for Traveller. This is great, well done UMP!

This is really great, it provides a lot of different background options for the character's family. The Family Events table is really useful too! Thanks, Universal Machine!

The Family Background SRD is 3 pages long (excluding the ‘cover’ and the OGL page). The purpose of this SRD seems to be to allow players to fill in the gaps in the character generation process for Traveller characters. The Social Standing table is excellent and expands the basic table in UMP’s Basic Character Generation SRD. The simple way of working out how many Credits a month the character must spend to maintain the appearance of their Social Standing works very well and makes sense in the context of the Traveller universe. Creating the character’s family background requires a few straight forward dice rolls: roll for family structure, roll for grandparents, roll for any siblings then roll for family events. The family events table is probably the most useful part of the product and has some nice background ideas.
Overall a good product that does the job it set out to do.

This has rules for generating characteristic scores and modifiers without having to buy the Traveller core rule book. It also has tables for the Education and Social Standing characteristics, which are both very useful. The pdf version of the product has an Old School/reto-clone feel to it and it's great that they have provided the product in different file formats because not everyone uses Microsoft Word. You can use this with the Traveller system reference document as it slots in seamlessly and you can modify it if you want because everything in it is Open Game Content.

This product is very short. It seems to be intended as a part of a complete SRD, but since most games have their SRDs available for free and in one piece, I can't understand the logic behind this one. Additionally, this seems to be simply the same rules as Mongoose Traveller with just a couple of differences. And the entire Mongoose Traveller SRD is available free and in one place.

If you are into rolling to see if you have homosexual, polygamist or transgendered parents then maybe this is for you. I for one am not telling my players they have to play such a role.
