Naval Warfare : Space big battles
by Mikko K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/30/2021 01:35:45

This is a good simple system. Torpedoes can be a bit swingy especially with smaller ships. And perhaps an easier way to handle retiring ships. One minor point: I wish the ship record sheets were available in some editable format so I could construct sheets for my exact fleets on a computer to print out.

Greek and Persian war game armies DBA DBM style
by Charles A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/17/2020 13:38:21

A truly beautiful set of counters appropriate for the vast majority of ancient miniature rules. While not nearly as ubiquitous as the publisher's previous counter set Wargame Armies : Ancient and Medieval, this version provides great period flavor for the combatants in the Greco-Persian Wars of the Fifth Century BC as described by Herodotus and even in the tragic events of the Pelopponesian Wars analyzed by Thucydides. The number of figures on any given base corresponds to the requirements of DBA. For example, you get three different 'flavors' of Greek Spear Infantry identified as Hoplites: Spartan, Theban and generic Greek, and each unit has four figures. By contrast, Peltasts only have three figures for quick DBAidentification purposes, and the Persian figures on this unit look different from those on the Greek version. I just employed this product to construct units for use with both Kings of War Historical and Men of Bronze authored by Eric Farrington of Blood and Spectacles Publishing. I glue the respective units to Litko bases, and, after a few days of the glue drying, I have everything I need to attractively and appropriately represent the army components for most ancient miniature rule sets at a fraction of the time and cost of actual miniatures. These units also store much more conveniently than their 3D counterparts.

I have nothing negative to say about this product other than when will he publish Roman and Carthaginian Armies for Wargaming, Caesar's Legions and Gallic Armies for Wargaming, and, perhaps most importantly, Macedonian and Successor Armies for Wargaming? I have purchased all this Publisher's Army products except for the Ancient Egyptian and Hittite units (8x4cm bases), and eagerly await his long promised Colonial Armies focused on the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.

Wargame Armies : Ancient and Medieval
by Christopher M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/10/2020 10:46:40

With a young kid who likes to play/smash daddy's figures, these are a good safe option (and eventually csn trach her how to play).

Great set and very modern for all ancients sets

Naval Warfare : Space big battles
by Shawn B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/12/2019 12:45:48

A simple system that scratches an itch to handle fleet-sized engagements. This is basically WWI/II in space. Systems are generic, so you won't see references to your typical sci-fi weapon tropes. Clever mechanism to differentiate damage. I've developed a fondness of using ship stat cards because of this system. The system recognizes two different styles of combat tropes; ships that favor forward attack, and ships that favor broadsides. Beware of fighters and bomber rules; the die roll mechanic is the opposite of ship batteries, but you'll quickly adapt to make the mental switch in modes after a few games. I recommend this for anyone who wants nice naval actions with a sufficient veneer of spaceship goodness. There is no ship design system with this version, although the rules provide a sufficiently larger variety of starship types that match up with most wet navy classes (and since most sci-fi tropes are based off wet navy classifications and naming conventions, it's no big deal).

Wargame Armies : Ancient and Medieval
by Wesley H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/15/2019 14:09:02

Very diverse set. This is perfect for beginners who want in get into wargaming but can't afford the initial leap, or who want to skip the painting and get right down to the fun part. Sure, the set is not pretty, but that's also not the goal of the product.

That being said, I would like to see two sets of counters with color variations to easily distinguish between clashing sides. Either way, I highly recommend this set.

Naval Warfare : Battleships to Dreadnoughts 1895 to 1920
by Charles H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/09/2018 10:42:56

Nice set of rules. Very simple to understand and play. I would like to see the Austrian and Turkish Navy data added to the game so that the Italians have an some one to battle with and for the Turkish navy vs. the Russians in the Black sea. If this were done the score would move to a four out of five.

A simple, fun set of rules that can be played without a lot of preparation. It's a Beer and Pretzels Space Battle war game, just like the author claims! For those of you that like heavy detail in your weapons systems and ship design, this might not be for you, but for the rest of us, it provides a fun afternoon of clashing armadas!

Naval Warfare: Monitor Vs Virginia
by Gunther B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/29/2013 00:06:39

Very satisfied with this set and the follow up Goeben counters. They enlarge with no loss of detail up to 400%. Hex and rectangle format makes them compatible with most sets of rules. Ships have nice detail and battle flag markers as well. Very satisfied, highly recommended

Naval Warfare : The Goeben Incident WWI
by Gunther B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/29/2013 00:02:37

Very nice ship miniatures for historical and what if battles. Hex and rectangle format that I have enlarged to 400% with no loss of detail. Firing arc and turning angle markers. They work well with what ever set of miniature rules you prefer. Looking forward to more naval engagement sets. I would like to see Coronel and Falklands. Highly recommended.
