Battle Armors is a very handy and useful supplement for D20 Future armors.
Owen K.C. Stephens serves up his usual quality of work.
This supplement details a few new pieces of gear, 10 new futuristic armors, and some printable stand-ins (stand-ins are best printed on cardstock).
Good value. Good product.
The only "complaint" I might have would be the lack of color illustrations for all the armors. The sketches are good, but leave me wanting more.<br><br>
<b>LIKED</b>: Most of the armors.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Would like to have seen color illustrations instead of sketches. But in keeping with my personal policy of not marking a product down based on art if that's not the focus, I'm not marking it down for that.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

A decent product that was a bit disappointing overall. I know they were taking a generalist approach, but the armors are so vastly different that it is jarring and in some cases, silly. A more focused approach could have made this a good reference.<br><br>
<b>LIKED</b>: Clearly laid out entries, decent quality of artwork, some good ideas.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: A decent set of rules for generating the armor would have made a world of difference. The art is...lacking..for some of the entries. The product lacks any cohesive feel, and the armors range from gritty near future to Mad Max meets Blade Runner to bad 50's science fiction.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Acceptable<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Disappointed<br>

Mage Ware
Modern day magic or magic mixed with any time of technology seems to be an area lacking. Most of the time one sees magical items that are the same as technological ones, except they are called magic. I know some people like to have a magical camera or train or telephone, but to me it seems to defeat the purpose of magic and cheapens it. Magic Ware takes us into the items a modern magician may have use for. Not all the items in it our magical but they are all designed for and many are designed my other magic practitioners.
Mage Ware is a new PDF by ID Adventures. They have done a few gaming PDFs but mostly have printable alternatives to miniatures. This twelve page PDF has a basic two column lay it. The first and last page are color, but the rest is all black and white so when printing just do not print the first and last pages which are not needed if you are concerned with ink. The book is book marked but only the chapters and that does not help when trying to find individual items. I more complete list of book makrs would have been much better.
The book starts with some hardware for a magic using person. Some of the items are the Arcane Server, a computer that can only be accesses by certain users and hacked by magic. It cannot be hacked using mundane needs. It is fairly expensive though. There is the Eternal Spelldrive that is a It is used to hold spells and make it easier to prepare spells from the Spelldrive then it would be from a spellbook. There is a printer that can print scrolls, and a small device called a spellpod that replaces a spell book completely. The items here are sort of interesting and seem to be some basic ideas a modern wizard might try to invent to make his life easier. But nothing really strikes me as really creative or awe inspiring in this section.
There are also a number of software applications for mages as well. There are items like Firetrap Security which allows spells to be stored for the purpose of affecting someone trying to hack into the computer. There is the Mastersage Pro that helps mages identify spells they have seen cast but at first failed to recognize. There are some other programs here but really like the hardware nothing that I found that impressive. There are some nice ideas and defiantly some useful items though.
Lastly, the PDF has a few spells for the modern game. There are twenty spells: five zero level, eight first, four third, two third, and one fourth. There are some interesting ones like Platinum Card that allows a small wealth increase for a single purchase and credit curse which decreases the wealth of some one else. There are some interesting ones like Global Positioning Sorcery that tells one exactly where he is and shows a view of the surrounding area. One of the most interesting spells is Spelltop. IT allows the caster to use a book as a computer. Information can be sorted in the book faster and downloaded into another medium.
Over all it is a good book. There are some nice ideas in here but none that really were impressive. It is a good starting ground for having some modern devices a magic user would have around and use. The spells are interesting and really do fit in a modern world.

Alien Abductee is a hoot. Both well written and funny, while being very useful to any D20 Modern campaign that wants to include "Little Grey Men".<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

Spookmaster
Sometimes with a modern game the characters just want to go some place that the game does not seem to allow. It is not that the game says no to the character direction but it also does not offer much in the way of support. A player can sit and look through books that just do not do what he wants with his character. That is one of the nice things about the Modern Advance line of books. They offer different class options for some quirky ideas. But I can see players and have had players that would want classes like these. There is a bit of creativeness and eccentric classes to be found here.
Spookmasters is a new PDF by Interactive Design Adventures. They have a growing catalog of PDFs and mostly concentrate on the modern game of d20. The book is small at twelve pages and the layout looks like it was done to make it seem bigger then it really is. There are huge margins on this book and I think it could easily have been a few pages shorter if the lay out were tighter. There is little art in the book, but the book marks are well done and printing it is easy. But the openness of the lay out is really my biggest complaint in this book.
The book starts with a class for someone who came near to death but still is alive. One of the requirements is that a character has been brought below zero hit point. I would have made it a little more severe since player character tends to go below zero hit points almost pretty regularly. The characters gain an ability to detect ghosts that seems to work quite like the detect evil ability other classes and spells have. One neat thing the class does is grant a ghost ally. The class actually gets three of them if the character gains enough levels in the class. The abilities of the class though are not the main focus of it for me. While the mechanical part is nice and balanced it is just the information that leads up to the class and the creativeness of the class that really make me like it. It is something different and unique. It is not just another class rehashed like seems to be the case more often then not. This is its own class not even an alternate to an existing one.
The book is a little more then just a class but not a lot more. There are three new feats in here. Two of them are really built for the class since one of them is a requirement and the other is a feat the class gets. I do like how the class ability is made into a feat though, so characters do not have to take the class to get the feat. That is a great way to do that. The last thing the book does is present an expanded ghost template. This is really clever of them since the current one does not really take into account a modern or future setting; this template of the ghost does.
Over all this is a very strong and creative class. It is a nice small PDF that really has a nice and simple class that serves a good purpose. Now, the quirky nature of the class and someone who can see dead people can be a little odd, but for those people that it works for this should work very well.

The figures were well drawn and there were a huge variety in the color and black and white sets. Lots of different characters and NPC's in there. Though some of the female characters were a little top heavy. ;-)
But they worked out fine for filling up an urban or village scene.
Made the epic battle at the city walls easy to populate with extras.<br><br>
<b>LIKED</b>: Good price and a lot of figures.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Wish they were all in color, but oh well. And maybe a few more options for the non-human PC's, come on, give us a halfling barbarian. But maybe that's for a dedicated race or hero set.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

I like this one. While some may want a customizable armor construction system, you really can already do that with the Polymecha series from Devil's Workshop and the Medium Mecha rules from Ronin Arts' Future product line. This is more for those who just want a few pregenerated powersuits to add to their campaign so that outfitting the villain and his thugs isn't an all-night project involving hours of computing purchase DCs and juggling open equipment slots.
While several of the armors shown would fit in a Space Opera, Cyberpunk, or even Post-Apocalyptic setting, there are several, notably the Tin Man, Centurion, and Long Rifle suits that just scream "Comic Book Superhero/Supervillain." The arts style of the individual armor illustrations and the Stand-In minis at the end also reinforce the Comic-book feel. Not that that's a bad thing, I'm looking to participate in a D20 Marvel Supers campaign soon and these would be perfect additions.<br><br>
<b>LIKED</b>: Nice versatility of potential settings. Space Opera, Cyberpunk, Post-Apocalypse, Anime-Inspired, Near-Future Technothriller, and Pulp/Comic Book all have something they can use here.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: Art, while pretty nifty designs, doesn't always match the feel of the background given for some of the suits. I.e., the Marauder suit is presented as a mass-produced military shock troopers' armor, but is illustrated as a skull-studded horror from Doctor Demonicus's closet.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

This ebook contains a great assortment of low level, low cost magic items. None are overly powerful, but all are very useful. and it's not just magic items - there's also armor and weapon enhancements as well.
The rings especially have seen a lot of use in my games.
I find this book a great value for the $$.<br><br>
<b>LIKED</b>: I liked how the pricing formulas are explained.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: I've done some minor tweaking on pricing, but that's probably just cause I'm overly picky.
I would have preferred there was not a security 'feature' on the pdf, as I am unable to view it in my preferred non-Adobe PDF reader. Would have been 5 stars without that problem.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

More than just another advanced class, this PDF includes new feats, new talent trees, new occupations, and a surprisingly versatile advanced class. Definitely not just for superhero games, this product should be useful in any number of modern settings. In particular, it would make a rather unnerving hidden serial killer...<br><br>
<b>LIKED</b>: Good value for the money; lots of extra goodies thrown in.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

A nice "cinematic" treatment sci-fi armor for d20. Some of the designs are a little implausible (the long rifle armor, for instance, would have some serious recoil and weight-management issues) but they're fun enough where, if you're like me, you just won't care. (The aforementioned armor lets you shoulder-mount a HUGE weapon, and allows for some pretty cool shock troops...) The artwork is excellent, and the armor all seems to have been drawn around a common frame, giving an excellent sense of proportion and scale between the suits. I know that some others have panned this release, and I think that's a shame. I've already gotten some good use out of it, and have found it to be a wonderful creative catalyst.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

Very enjoyable artwork. Although there are a few figs that I wouldn't allow near a gaming table with young children, the quality of the rest of the artwork makes up for it.
The Color figs concentrate on likely PCs & NPCs, with a (very) few monster figs towards the end of the PDF. The B&W figs sport a wide variety of monsters & even more characters to choose from.<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Seperate PDFs for Color, B&W, and the cover from the original print product.
There's enough variety (and quality) among the included adventurer figs that you can use the artwork to inspire new characters; important if you've played a wide variety of characters through the years and don't want to rehash a prior PC.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: I can't paint worth anything, so I was disappointed that there was only 4 pages of color figs, compared with 15 B&W. My bad, not theirs.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

Beautiful artwork, and significantly fewer figs that I'd consider inappropriate for the kids.
The set is very heavy with supers (well over half), with fewer options for pure modern or modern gothic storytelling games. Although there are multiple cultists, gangsters, and soldiers, there is a distinct lack of police (Three in the set, only one of which is in the color set, vs. all five of the soldiers).<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: As with Fantasy, these figures have fully detailed backs rather than the silhouettes common in other products. Lots of inspiration for new characters.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: With quality artwork like this, the only thing I didn't like is my own lack of painting skills.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Very Good<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Satisfied<br>

Another winner!
There are a few figs that would work for supers and a few for everybodies favorite cybered 'Dark Tomorrows' game. By and large, though, the set is dedicated to space opera & science fantasy.
In addition to the demo available here, IDA has a >FREE< set of dedicated Star Wars figs at http://www.swrpgnetwork.com/entry.php?s=&id=1804 which gives an even better idea of the quality of their artwork then the B&W in the demo.
There are still a few figs not for the kids, but by and large this is a wonder set!
The only thing IDA needs now is an interface on their website similar to what PIG has done, with the ability to design & download custom pages of only the figs that you need at any given time. Until then, I'll still stick with IDA, because the full backs make for a better product & more enjoyable gaming experience. Cut & Paste isn't so difficult.<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Half as many different figures are in this set as there are in the other Stand-Ins sets, but this time they're ALL available in color.
The Color, B&W, and Covers from the original print product are each in separate PDF.
Closest thing to perfect that I've seen.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: The only thing I can find to dislike about this set is that there are still a few figs which prevent it from being completely family friendly. I don't have to worry about it, but some do. In either case, the figs are all beautiful.<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>

One thing I've always found frustrating is that there is ALWAYS tons of magic items in the high gp range (which makes sense of course), but I've
always wanted some cool items in the low-mid range to add to campaigns.
HERE THEY ARE! So many things you can add to your campaign, and adapt as you need to.<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Quick, to the point, nothing confusing, and very adaptable.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: N/A!! Keep it coming!<br><br><b>QUALITY</b>: Excellent<br><br><b>VALUE</b>: Very Satisfied<br>
