The Natives Are Restless Tonight
by Nathan W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/07/2021 11:20:41

Clear to read and prepare. Excellent fun to play.

Got this and had an enjoyable time making cardboard models of the buildings for the compound following the instructions provided, creating card minis for the game, making up sets of mealie bag walls etc. The booklet shows you how to lay out the compound, provides a good rundown of what forces are required, starting positions etc. The cards provided were nicely designed with the effects explained in clear and obvious manner and Union flag backs. We printed them and put them in collectible card game sleeves to make a deck. However the game can be played using ordinary playing cards and the explanation on how to do this was clear. The rules were explained well and helped two novices to run the game successfully on the first run-through. My Zulus were defeated and an excellent time was had by both participants and spectators.

The game was greeted with enthusiasm We will run the Rorkes Drift scenario through again and in addition the booklet did generate some enthusiasm for using the rules to play through other homemade scenarios in the same vein.

Thank you very much to the Tea House for providing this!

I was looking for a paper model but this is made of cork. It's still cool though. It would be great for a war game.

A very useful guide for anyone wishing to produce Afghan buildings for any time from late middle ages to the present day. I had already used the on-line version and it is now useful to have it in a handy protable version rather than trying to print off individual pages.

Futuristic City
by Gareth T. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/15/2013 12:46:14

A truly inspirational view of a futuristic wargaming city.

Given that it is free to download and contains a simple guide on how the buildings were constructed, this is something any sci-fi gamer looking for city scape ideas away from a grimdark future should have a look at.

Futuristic City

I'm not sure why this is on Wargame Vault in the first place. The article is nice, but the title is deceptive, especially when it is on a site with a lot of actual paper models. I read the article originally on the Infinity forums, and then again on Matakishi's site. It gives some good info for building a futuristic city, but if you don't have an engraver and access to thick plastic, you're out of luck.

Meh.

As with ALL Matakishi's Tea House products, insanely good value and very very useful. He has done all the hard calculating work and gives precise and accurate directions to make these fantastic structures. All it leaves you to do is, enjoy the fun in making them for a fraction of the cost of buying MDF pre-cut buildings.

Once you've got the hang of it after making your first building, the second and subsequent ones just 'roll off' the production line!

Recommended as an excellent buy and a great investment.

9/10

A lot of good information on how to model a sci-fi city. You can't beat the price, it is not however a print, build and play type of product.

A step up in required skill for those who have only made cardstock terrain but this is a good set. The price was definitely right.

The Natives Are Restless Tonight
by Frank P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/21/2012 12:52:44

A great value for a limited gaming experience. The rules are well laid out and complete for the game. Everything you need is there including how to construct the Rorke's Drift compound in easy step-by-step instructions. Providing the action cards which wear well printed onto card stock was a nice addition. It is a fast paced and fun set of rules recreating an assault on a village, compound, fort, whatever. I did say "limited" gaming experience since that is what this game will do best. A few additional troop types are listed, however; without included scenarios, players are left to design their own. I plan on playing this game over and over as it has great re-playability. No two games will be the same. Much fun at a great price!
