A very handy product if your running any kind of 1920's-40's era game. I found it full of good facts and setting information. The adventure was nice pulp/noir one.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
admitedly, it's a kind of specialized setting, but a nicely done one. If your running any kind of pulp/noir game, or a good Call of Cuthulu style horror (or a WW2 themed game) this is agreta product. Full of details and information about the locale, it should add a nice exotic flavor to your game.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
This is my first 1pg download so far and im very impressed with the quality contained in this product. Im a big fan of hong kong action movies, and if you have seen films like hard boiled, the killer or even face off, i am sure this will be your cup of tea. The combat system is great, with fast moving very cinematic rules allowing 'simultaneous' gun fights theat recreate the setting perfectally. There are additonal rules that also allow hit locations to play a part in the game, as well as options to make the game style more realistic and gritty, but these are all optional and the moderator can pick and choose as he wishes. This is topped off with some great adventures that each provide 2-3 hours of explosive fun. The combat system is worth twice the price alone, simulating hong kong action with just enough rules to keep the rules heavy players interested aswell as wushu or feng shui addicts.

LIKED: The rules system and the overall fast moving style of the game replicate gun fights aswell as the occasional kung fu perfectally (think 'tiger on the beat' hong kong fans) - this is the definitive hong kong 'god of guns' rpg.

DISLIKED: I guess the style of play may be a little bit hard to grasp for players and moderators who havent seen hong kong movies or many US action flicks, however the game could also provide a perfect introduction to the genre. The rules could also be seen as a bit 'loose' but there made to be adapted and tweaked for particular style of play.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Shriek
by Michael W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/14/2005 00:00:00

Deep7 products are easily some of the best stuff on the market if you want easy, last-minute games to play. The rules are simple and self-explanatory, its easy to improvise most situations, and they are decidedly deadly. Shriek is my personal favorite (third time I've bought it, but only because the previous two disappeared under "mysterious" circumstances). What was going to be a one-night horror adventure based on one of my favorite Japanese thrillers, "Another Heaven," became a short campaign that scared the crap out of the players. Since the updated version provided actual powers for the baddies, things are gonna get even crazier.

LIKED: Ummmm...Everything!!

DISLIKED: Nothing wrong here.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Great new source material for Arrowflight. The cover was not very high resolution and pixelated when I printed it, but still very worth the money.

Daisho: Samurai Adventure
by Chris J. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/09/2004 00:00:00

If you haven't tried one of Deep7's 1PG games, you owe it to yourself. They're perfect for one-shots.

All the games follow the same basic structure

1 Page of game rules (yes that's what 1PG stands for! 1 Page with a character sheet and chargen summary 1 page of advice for the GM (tailored to the setting) 1 page of genre specific rules (in this case relating to Samurai & Ninja style combats) 6 (that's six!) one-page adventure outlines. Well worth the cost of the PDF alone!

What you don't get is any detailed background information, but that doesn't matter so much as all the game genres are Hollywood standards, so if you've seen any Kurosawa movie, you're all set to run a Daisho game.

All in all, fantastic value for money, and worth picking up for the sample scenarios alone.

1 Page of game rules (yes that's what 1PG stands for! 1 Page with a character sheet and chargen summary 1 page of advice for the GM (tailored to the setting) 1 page of genre specific rules (in this case relating to life and death in the Arena) 6 (that's six!) one-page adventure outlines. In Pax Gladius, the six mini-adventures combine to form an ongoing campaign of murder and intrigue in Rome.

What you don't get is any detailed background information, but that doesn't matter so much as all the game genres are Hollywood standards, so if you've seen Gladiator or any Roman "Sword and Sandal" movie, you're all set to run a Pax Gladius game.

All in all, fantastic value for money, and worth picking up for the sample scenarios alone.

Concrete Jungle (XPG): The New York City Sourcebook
by aaaa a. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/10/2004 00:00:00

Good book - just about. It's a bit short and the adventure was easily the worst part of the book. Not good. Fortunately the rest of the book had great details about New York up to 1943 when the game is set.

DETAILS ABOUT NEW YORK The detail level is quite sketchy - no mention of Hell's Kitchen, no mention of the segregated communities on Manhattan island, other than the obvious - Harlem, and so on. Overall, there are some details that would let a gamer develop New York as a living city in play, but I think overtime the lack of details would tell, and a lot of work would be needed to get the value from the book.

RULES Virtually no rules as such, which is good as I would not have appreciated an intensive rules chapter taking still more of the thin page count.

THE ADVENTURE The adventure is not good. There are any number of film noir plots infinitely better than this. Also, the lack of alternative support pages such as maps, a few NPCs of general use, some illustrations of period vehicles, a timeline of New York events and so on would have been far more welcome.

SUMMARY Well enough produced, some excellent content some content not so good. For the price it is OK, but not fantastic.

Mean Streets (XPG): The RPG of Classic Film Noir
by David U. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/03/2003 00:00:00

First impressions are extremely good. A nice, simple system, which is what you want from a game where the emphasis should always be on plot, rather than number crunching. I will certainly be purchasing the other products in this line.
