FREE Undead sampler

An excellent option for 4e. Cannon fodder minions are rarely worth the purchase of a plastic or metal miniature.

Demons
by Joe K. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 10/26/2009 07:54:29

Miniatures can be an expensive tool in the game master's arsenal. I'm of the mind that whatever tool is best for the game, at a price you can afford, is best for you. For example, I run a 4e campaign on Tuesdays. I am using prepainted miniatures for many of the encounters because I don't play at home and they are light. However, there are several monsters that have no miniature and for them, I've gladly used Firey Dragon's counters.

In terms of paper miniatures, I've generally seen two types. The first, like Fiery Dragon, are 'counters' or 'chits' in that they lay flat. The good ones will be double sided to allow you to indicate if the foe is down or suffering some some specific game effect. The other type I ran into long before Fiery Dragon, stand up paper miniatures. This product, Demons, follows in that line.

This set includes eight miniatures: homunculus, succubus, horned demon, fire demon, cerebus, hell hound, incubus, and demon lord. Each includes a full color version and a black and white version, that includes front and back. In addition to the miniature illustrations, there are illustrations of bases that the user can cut out and mount the figures on. In this case, the bases are lava like, fitting for the demons.

The only 'problem' I have, is that I'm fairly clumy with the old blade. I've cut myself many a time removing flash on a rounded object by cutting away only to have the knive follow the circle back towards, you guessed it, the hand holding the figure. That is not the problem though. The problem is that many of these illustrations are crowded together so that you can't necessarily make a clean cut if you just want to cut out say a square as opposed to cutting out the individual figure I suspect this is because many of the figures have wings.. I supposed you could copy, paste into an image editing program, remove the foreign object and then print, but seems a lot of work.

The lack of any general guidelines on cutting, outside of the bases, also seems a little odd. Providing the user with some ideas on how to cut the figures out either with a sharp hobby knive or using scissors and making them square stand ups wouldn't take up much room and would be useful.

Still, this is a minor complaint and for about the third of the price of a pack of random minis, you know what you're getting ahead of time and can dispose of these when your doing using them. Easy to carry and easy to print, this product should find a use in any Game Masters library.

Recon Hover
by Peter S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/14/2009 13:45:46

Fantastic little hovercraft. Love it! However, there is no interior for your cardstock figs to ride in. I will probably cut a hatch for the figs to enter because the vehicle is so well done and it comes in a variety of colors. Lack of interior does make it a little easier to assemble though.

Terra Force: Special Weapons
by Glenn W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/06/2009 21:35:53

Inexpensive and accurately scaled for 28mm skirmish wargaming. Beautifully done. Well worth the purchase. Particularly nice is the fact that OneMonk's site has many alternative bases.

Scarecrows and Jack-O-Lanterns
by David O. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/19/2009 19:25:49

This set is fun! I've used the scarecrows for everything from modern horror, superheroes and steampunk fantasy. Are they just scarecrows, or something more sinister? Keep em guessing, I always say. Great work, just the right amount of menace and fun.

Grave Robbers
by David O. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/19/2009 19:22:19

This is really one of my favourite One Monk sets. I really like the 2.5D territory that is entered here. The Donkey cart has been used in many of my games, everything from a WW2 battle to a fantasy village and a steampunk city. Fantastic work all around. I'd love to see more vehicles by this company.

FREE Monster Sampler
by Stephen G. R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/06/2009 03:21:16

If you love using miniatures, but haven't the time or energy to prep and paint everything ahead of time, Jim's got the answer you're looking for. These are very high quality, but at the same time, are easily replaceable. Spilled soda? Cheeto fingers? No problemo, just go print more. Jim bases his minis on several standard sizes, and in a multitude of textures, so you can always find something you'll like. Best of all, they are designed to be baseless, and may be stored flat. High quality, easy storage, well-executed, and in realistic colors. What's not to like?

FREE Undead sampler
by Stephen G. R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/06/2009 03:10:53

Jim's work is unparalleled when it comes to providing tabletop quality miniatures without hours and hours of prepping and painting. I love my metal, but don't always have time for it. Apart from gaming, these undead make for great seasonal decorations. I like to put them on the snow bases to terrorize the wife's Christmas displays.

Good for any fantasy or post-apocalyptic game. Note that the trim out time is a bit longer, but definitely worth it.

Grave Robbers
by Peter S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/05/2009 17:20:17

This is a must have set for any DM even if you only use the donkey and cart. The absolutely best cardstock version of a cart you'll find anywhere. I'm even thinking of converting some of One monk's cavalry items to horses in order to make chariots for one of my games.

You also get 3 fantasy figures and a guy to sit in the cart. And there are 6 different corpses available. I may not use the corpses often, but what Dungeon adventurer hasn't gone searching for treasures amongst rotting bones?

A great little sampler of quick to make encounter creatures. They work best on shrinky-dink laser printer to give a more permanent look and professional quality to them.

Elf Army: Basic Infantry
by Christopher N. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/27/2009 06:06:32

A fine set of minis for building an Elven army or skirmish force for tabletop wargaming. Consisting of three troop types (Spear, Bow, and Sword) in three poses each, these figures look great individually or massed up in ranks. The included movement trays are useful if you play Warhammer or similar games. If you're feeling ambitious, try scaling these guys down by 50% and you've got some really cool 15mm miniatures for mass combat games like A Fistfull of Miniatures. And, at $3.95 a set, you can't go wrong. Print out a whole army for a fraction of the cost of traditional minis, then assemble them in no time and you're ready to rock 'n roll. Additional movement trays and bases in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and textures are available at the One Monk website for infinite customization. Simply great stuff!

A great set of easily-built fantasy characters perfect for RPGs and tabletop gaming in general. Visit the website for a ton of differently sized, shaped, and textured bases to customize the figures for your game. Black and white line-art versions are also supplied if you feel like coloring in your own figures. They just look awesome!

Precursor: Alien Greys
by Frank W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/02/2009 01:41:07

Great product! I spent the weekend abducting Terra Force soldiers.

I thought these guys might be a little tough to cut out since they were smaller, but I had no problems. They were actually easier to cut out than the Terra Force guys.
