Sword & Spell - Might & Magic - Booklet 1
by Royce R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/28/2019 11:46:35

Ever wanted a set of the original "white box" booklets but you didn't want to sell your oldest child to get them? You've come to the right place.

I once owned a white box, and WWIT when I got rid of it?! But it's all good now; everything is here, nothing added that I can see, and better organized and more concisely written. So if you ever wanted to do it "old school" (in this case bsfore the schoolhouse had even been finished) this is it.

This is a much needed book for the necromancer. The skills and feats make for a more colorful and powerful character. I really enjoyed this book.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Excellent piece of work that really expands the boundaries of necromancy in a campaign. Good spells, well balanced, and not overpowered. Makes a nice companion to "Necromantic Feats".

LIKED: Just about everything.

DISLIKED: I wasn't awfully thrilled with a couple of the

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Satisfied
Dark Arts of Necromancy

In the 3.0 PHB, Necromancy got the short shrift. Since then there have been half a score of books on the topic. Why? Because most folks think in these terms: Necromancy = Cool.

This volume does a fine job of adding in a thorough-going Arcane spellcaster Necromancer class (like several other books, working against the notion of "Divine magic users make the best Necromancers" line found in the core books). The class seems well thought out and would make a useful villain in my games.

As with most "Pure Evil" supplements, I think of this in terms of NPCs, rather than PCs. I prefer my games heroic, but that is a personal taste. Be that as may be, you will find lots of spells, items, and just evil thoughts on how to run a necromancer in this book -- next time the party heads into The Dark And Forbidding Tower they will have a challenge on their hands!

Dark Arts of Necromancy

A decent supplement on necromancy that would work well when combined with almost any of the other necromancy supplements currently available. Focused on arcane necromancers (which I appreciate). Lots of spells.
