3 Pages of Adventure: Cyberpunk Wilderness
by Mario [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/17/2024 14:30:35

There are some nice ideas but I think it's just not worth the (to be fair small) price. The 3 pages are more like 2.5 pages and also include half a page of introduction and even some suuuuper generic tables like Friend or Foe or Descriptions that are not cyberpunk specific. I'd say you get more like two tables for cyberpunk that you don't already have.

Villains: for Cyberpunk: for 5e: Book 2
by Geoff [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/13/2024 23:46:45

Oh boy, it's back for round 2. More spelling errors, weak sauce character descriptions, and (I didn't think it was possible) even worse mechanical language.

Characters have pronouns that literally change in the middle of their statblock. Character descriptions do not match the art. And worse still, none of these characters are at all interesting, left with all the aesthetics of a cool villain, with zero emotional impact.

Still not it, chief.

Villains: for Cyberpunk: for 5e: Book 1
by Geoff [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/13/2024 23:43:20

This product is deeply flawed on several levels. For one, the writing is so basic, I'm inclined to assume they used an AI. Key phrases are repeated, and the same structure is used across several backgrounds, leading to a deep sense of "sameness" across the villains. The "adventure hooks" boil down to "They could be an antagonist! Or maybe an ally!" It gives me nothing to play off of, and no real impetus to do anything with these. And then there's the mechanical issues. For example, "Common" is not a real language, and probably should not be included alongside "Japanese" and "English." Uncanny Dodge should appear in the Reactions section, because it's a reaction to use it. "CombatKnife" is not one word. But the real biggest problem I have with this product is that it's so bland, it makes lettuce look spicy. Like, we have a master hacker, an evil CEO, a crime boss, and a ruthless assassin? I mean, sure, but have you considered making any of them interesting? I have no idea what the CEO is doing that's evil, for example. Or what enemies she's made. Or how. Or what her actual, tactical goals might be. These would all be great things for the adventure hooks to flesh out, if there was any effort at all being placed in this product. This ain't it, chief.

Monsters of Victorian Britain
by Joseph [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/03/2024 14:44:23

What I like about the titles by Monsters of Victorian Britain is that the monsters are unique. The author didn't just come up with your typical vampires, werewolves, etc. The author also creates a great backstory for each. The artwork is great too!

When Death Came to Eldorhaven - for Dragonbane
by Steve [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/28/2024 04:47:06

Unodrtunately a waste of money. This one feels so "not Dragonbane" in every aspect. It looks like "AI made a standard D&D adventure with no background". The story is pretty straight and boring. The chance is big the group ends the adventure on a different plane (open end). The NPCs have monster attacks even if they are normal humans! The Art is all AI and is often without context (even a manga style rice field pic) and pretty big in proportions (to blow up the number of pages maybe?).

I will never run this scenario.

Modern Horror Classes: Occult Scholar
by Joseph [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/05/2024 08:57:10

I was not a fan of 5e as a horror system, until I started reading the work of RPGGamer. Their classes, creatures, and other homebrew made me realize 5e can work as a horror game, or even more so as an action-horror game. The creatures are amazing. Very unique, cinematic in many ways, and more interesting than your run of the mill vampires, and ghosts. Even if you don't run 5e, the creatures will greatly inspire you to get out of the Universal monster and eldritch horror archetypes. Next, I would love to see more Victorian horror classes, ala Penny Dreadful, and yes there are a lot of systems and games that are Penny dreadful inspired, but I want to see RPGGamer's twist on the genre.

Thanks for the stellar review, very much appreciated. I've taken on board your ideas about Victorian Classes, and from today I'll be releasing a bunch along with some monsters over the next couple of weeks. I'm trying to keep them so you could run a straight Victorian Horror setting with some magic in it, or run it with Fantasy Races in it as well, so I'll be putting together a setting book as well, describing how the Victorian era came about with fantasy races such as Orks, Dwarves and Elves in it, and their roles in society. Thanks for the idea, really got my mind working in an interesting new direction.
