Story time - the next night - "Mommy, I remember that Alaha is now stuck in the book at the closed library. But, you told me that she has several pets at her home. Are they hungry and dying?" - and the response - "Oh. Uh." - a bit of a pause - "Alaha's home is a magical place. Her pets are all smart, can talk, and have opposable thumbs/claws. They were watching Alaha's adventure through her crystal ball in her bedroom. When they see that she is stuck in the magic book, they decide to go and save her. To get to the library, they will need to go through the sewers. As soon as they enter the sewers, Raven, who knows one spell, sees some runes on the wall. She studies them and figures out the words they represent. When she says those words, the runes change to a map of the sewers. Raven memorizes the map and they continue onward. Next, Rack the raccoon finds a glowing magical sword of light. When he picks it up, it changes to its true identity, a magical sword of chaos. It is stuck to Rack's hand. After this frustrating encounter, they encounter an area of wild magic. Raven tries to master it, but instead, it takes her spell away. The next thing that they find is a friendly fungoid (see attached image) moving dirt. They help him for five minutes and then continue on. A friendly rat greets them, but the sword of chaos lunges at it and gives it a mortal wound. They run further into the sewers in terror. To get into the library, Rack uses his strength to push the grate up. Inside, they find themselves surrounded by raccoons who have felt the presence of the sword of chaos. They challenge Rack's authority, but he convinces them to follow him. Rack now has his own cult and they leave the library through the high open window. So, near the magic book is Raven and fox and otter. They open the magic book, but nothing happens. When they all touch it at the same time, they are sucked into the magic book and are transformed." "Mommy, what are they transformed into?" "Becky, that is another story for another night." - - The game system I used to play this was QuestDoc6. This system has ten pages and uses a six-sided die. It is designed for solo play and includes an oracle and keywords. I did create a list of 26 possible keyword/encounters and pulled the adventure randomly from it. This was a fun challenge! Give this a try!
