Four stars because I am confused. The front half of the book is a soccer manual. However, the entire book is there. I have photos if necessary

Combat Encounter deck for Ker Nethalas
by Robert [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/09/2024 00:57:20

These cards are a great addition to the game. They make play easier and it has all the necessary information so you don’t have to look it up. The quality of the cards is pretty good, too. I recommend getting the deck box (its like $1.00 or something). I’m an idiot and I didn’t get it so I have no place to store it.

I disagree with the other review on here about size. I have poor close eyesight (I need glasses) but I don’t have a problem reading them.

Combat Encounter deck for Ker Nethalas

Cards are fine but due to the amount of info/text, the printed text is very very tiny. The cards should have been printed on tarot size cards, as it stands right now I can only use the cards to randomly draw up encounters and then to look up details, I use the PDF files on my tablet. 4/18/24 Sorry but the font is very small, I've compared them to series of poker sized cards I got recently, Deck of Old School Encounters 1 thru 3 and Ironsworn cards, those cards are way easier to read. The font size on these Ker Nethalas cards are about 50% smaller, unreadable no but very small and hard to read, I can use the cards to randomly draw encounters but to avoid eye strain I use the PDF versions of the cards on my tablet to get all the details easily. The problem is trying to stuff all that info on a poker sized card, I would be more than happy to pay more for a tarot sized card with the same info on them with a bigger sized font.

Ker Nethalas: Into the Midnight Throne
by Jakub [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/24/2024 15:24:19

Similar game to D100 Dungeon or Four Against Darkness but more complex in a good way. Survival and resource menagment are important as well as luck. There are some clever mechanics that bring to mind cRPG like Diablo. Character progress and magic item variety are excelent. There is really a lot of content for a long term campaign. I higly recommend it.

A very good surprise is this new universe of dark-sf, while the theme of the border has experienced renewed interest in recent years, I find here (with pleasure), the author's desired dark touch, presenting us an environment full of despair and mysteries. My French/English article is here: https://bit.ly/49osryY

I'm playing it solo and really like it. So far it has everything I need to explore and play the game. I'm new to playing RPGs so the actual role-playing isn't happening much, but this walks me through with good procedures and then oracles if I feel like doing something that isn't on rails.

Under Ashen Skies
by Sydney [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/31/2024 21:34:29

Very well written and dark. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you love Silent Hill, this is for you. The story you discover can delve into some dark places, though I appreciate the publishers give you the option to keep it a little lighter. The system is easy to pick up, similar to 5e with some minor changes. I wish they had a separate checklist sheet for exploration so I could keep track of the various things going on. I would still recommend this for horror fans and RPG enthusiasts.

Across a Thousand Dead Worlds
by Michael [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/04/2024 19:41:19

I found this from a play through video on YouTube and an interview video. The premise reminded me of entity but more action. I bought it last week and loving it so far. The setup is time consuming and I am building my solo campaign now. The games gm emulator is decently big, and detailed. This is a fantastic rpg for someone like me that wants to explore the unknown.

Across a Thousand Dead Worlds
by Norm M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/16/2023 15:45:20

ATDW walks a really important like between atmospheric/narrative and crunchy TTRPGs. I think it would appeal to fans of both kinds of games. At least as someone who tends to prefer more narrative games, I found the crunchier elements engaging and thematic.

It offers a good amount of crunch for folks who want to manage inventory and add numbers together without losing focus of the oppressive atmosphere where behind each locked door could be the total vacuum of space, waiting to pop your eyeballs and set you drifting into a decaying orbit above a dead world.

Riftbreakers 1e
by Thom O. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/19/2023 21:03:18

I'm certainly a fan.

Riftbreakers is a D100 based fantasy TTRPG pulling inspiration from MMORPGs with solo and coop rules. So far has been a very fun game to play solo or coop with my partner; character creation and management is a breeze and the rules are intuitive and flow well. I could definitely see more elaboration to turn the solo/coop oracle into something more inspired by MMOs, along with adding more to followers with concepts like guilds. A game that has a lot of potential for growth yet very enjoyable as is.

Thank you so much for your review! Speaking of guilds, they are coming, as a matter of fact the rules are already in my Patreon. They'll be part of the upcoming expansion, later this year!

Riftbreakers 1e

A great D100 fantasy rpg with mechanics lifted from MMORPGs. Others have explained the system well so I'll just add two points that I really like about this game.

  1. It has a perfect balance between game and roleplaying. As a solo roleplayer this is an element that I have come to appreciate. There is plenty in the book to help you build a rich roleplaying experience that will be different every time. Its very solo friendly. In fact that appears to be the main mode presented in the book along with co-op play. It is also easy to adapt for a traditional group experience. However, it also has a robust game like structure to it that allows you to sit back a bit when you are too tired to be very creative. Having a manual job I really appreciate being able to decide which mode I want i.e. more of a game or more of a story telling experience.

  2. It has a unique bestiary. There are no orcs, goblins or dark elves here. Everything about the setting feels comfortably high fantasy but the author has steered clear of some of the more obvious tropes in the genre. I love that. It makes travelling through a fantasy land a bit more like the reason you enjoyed it when you first encountered it! More authors should try this!

An excellent book, highly recommended.

Across a Thousand Dead Worlds

GREAT FOR NEW GAMERS!

Across a Thousand Dead Worlds is a great product. Lots of setting depth, lots of dungeon crawl, some resource management choices that can kill your crew, tons of adversaires and much mystery. I think that what really sets the game apart is that if you want to run an RPG and have no experinece, Across a Thousand Dead Worlds can train you to do so. Character construction is crunchy but not accounting, and you get enough setting to keep a group going.

Riftbreakers 1e
by Newton P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/24/2023 15:46:07

This is a great product that adds a refreshing twist on d100 systems.

Riftbreakers runs on a framework similar to Basic Roleplaying (BRP): with skills ranging from 1-100 and requiring the player to roll under their skill rating on d100. This is very intuitive for new players, and players familiar with BRP.

However, the Author has added several features that avoid some of the issues with other BRP systems: which can be bland and combats become a tedious roll 'to hit' only to find your opponent just rolls successfully to parry/dodge your hit. Riftbreakers has added a large selection of abilities (called "hearts") which are very reminiscent of D&D4e's abilities: as some are 'at-will', 'encounter' and 'daily' abilities.

Each 'Heart' focuses on specific areas of interest: Arcane Heart has abilities that function like magic spells; while Arrow Heart are abilities if you want to specialize as an archer. Similar for Blade Heart, Shadow Heart, Bastion Heart, etc. There are 10 Hearts in all. These Hearts specialize and make your character unique. They make combat very exciting with "moves" that are simple to execute. (I much prefer this, rather than the Mythras/RuneQuest matrix with special successes that can leave players with 'decision paralysis'). Since (like BRP) this game is class-less, players are free to make any combination of Hearts to get exactly the abilities/PC they envision.

Another distinct flavour of this game: the author has (purposely) made use of several mechanics to emulate video games (MMO's). Riftbreakers makes very good use of Difficulty Tiers, Loot Quality, Crafting, etc. These don't feel 'gimmicky' for the sake of emulation - they are very functional rules that I would happily import into any BRP game.

The game also boasts rules for Solo play and random quest/dungeon design.

I highly recommend this game, and the Author is very active on the Discord channel if there are any rule questions.
