It Takes A Child To Raze A Village
by Patrick H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/12/2022 22:40:14

Amazingly fun. Only note: when I run this again (and I will run this again) I'll use a lower suspicion cap. Maybe 10 for 3 players, 13 for four players ... I probably wouldn't try it with five.

But. Yes. Amazingly fun.

Clumsy Heroic Adorable Anticapitalist Penguins Vs Business Goose's Ivory Tower
by Ben L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/20/2021 08:59:49

We played Penguins as part of a Werewolf game, while travelling through the Umbra. It was so much fun!

The system was really easy to pick up and I really like that every action is a step forward, even if it's just a tiny waddle-fall forward.

The game couldn't help but be hilarous, as the penguins tackled Business Goose's minions on every level of the ivory tower.

I'll be running it again next month for a different group, and I can't wait!

The game inspired me to draw my own anticapitalist penguin!

Party! Monster! Monster! Party!
by Beth Y. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/05/2021 14:28:50

Absolutely wonderful game. I ran it for a group with about 40 minutes notice and it offers several great suggestions for situations the characters can get into, made it super easy to throw together a session (lusty vampire coven wanting to take over the town by turning everyone into vamps by spiking the punch and hiding their family members from the ensuing chaos). We all had a great time, I found the mechanics super interesting - I’ve never played something with a system like that! Also the game is basically a love letter to Buffy without being impossible to play if you’ve never seen it. Grand times were had by all! Several of the players immediately went and bought it for themselves and im definitely going to be running it again.

Bromeliad: Far From Home
by David A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/26/2020 21:43:56

Play as a tree frog! It might as well say 'Play as a anything!' and it might have been better that way. The game lacks sufficient setting to offer direction for play. You start in a new world, a new kind of world, as a tree frog, but the world isn't brought to life at all, neither in the brief setting description nor the mechanics. The object characteristic list was very lackluster. I had a hard time coming up with how they'd interact with a chosen object or be used to create an object. The prompt table is useful and adaptable. If I were a huge big Redwall fan I might have been able to muddle through, but I could not get into it. Some of the other solo systems have better inspiration and direction.

S.C.R.E.A.M: The Horror
by Christopher B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/16/2019 22:57:46

Amazing how they managed to cram such a great and playable horror game onto just two sides of paper.

Each of the moves for both the player and the horror are so closely tied into the genre that you know just what to do. The only downside is that there seems to be little room for players to do things outside of what is listed, but I imagine a creative GM could make up a cost on the spot.

Best part? The players don't have to stop playing if they get killed, they get to play the horror - a nice solution to a genre with a lot of PC wipeouts.
