NPCs are like magic items, you can never have enough options as a DM. Whether you build an entire story thread around them using their provided plot hooks, make your own, or just grab one quickly when you have your very own Sam Smorkle moment. FoFF gives you LOTS of options to work with and some great artwork which bring the characters to life. Although the interior art is B&W, the quality of it is just so high that it shouldn't be seen as a loss.

Those aren't light spills from the rooms, that the dirty stone for the common paths that the inhabitants take between areas and adds to that lived in feel.

Good variety of flora and placement to keep things interesting.

Some good spot locations here like the stone circle and the weather beaten bridge where you can tie the story in well.

Sometimes all you need a little fishing spot/village in an out of the way place.

I like the addition of both the grid and nongrid versions on all of these maps. Gives me choices in how I want to use them.

Nice tones and good theme. Represents the hellish wastelands well.

I love traps, I think every dungeon worth a damn should have some, but I always found the official ones boring, dule, and predictable. That's why this book was a godsend to me, finally I had new tricks in my arsenal to amuse my players with, thank you so much!

The samples for the product were good enough to convince me to back the KS project.

With the pandemic, I've had to put my extensive pawn collection away and switch to playing with a VTT. While I love pawns on a table, I don't like top down tokens on a vtt. Instead, I prefer circle tokens with a portrait, which are not as easy to find as you might believe. Of all the ones I've seen, these are of the best quality. I'm very fond of the art, and the framing ring works well as an accent that doesn't distract from the image. I highly recommend this set and other works by the creator!

I’m so ridiculously excited for this Kickstarter! The Grim Press (@TheGrimPress) are phenomenal creators with the most truly transcendent takes on NPCs! I’ve said before & will say again “every one of them filled with enough flavour to grow an encounter, adventure, arc and/ or campaign”

The quality of the writing, lore, artwork and abilities is incredible and utterly inspiring! I need to see the full project so badly! This taste has me very, very excited indeed!

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Silvasirenis caused me some concern with the wording and elements of the concept, which is inspired by the mythological siren. I raised these with Armstrong (@Grim_DM) and his response was truly encouraging and inspiring, welcoming my comments.

I am truly reassured knowing that this is but a sampler, with the project being committed to sensitivity consultants for the final product. It’s wonderful to see folx becoming more welcoming of critique, as well as the normalisation of sensitivity reading. I have a great deal of faith in Armstrong, Allies & Antagonists, and the Adaptable NPCs series that precedes this mammoth project. The Adaptable NPCs series being some of my favourite and among the most beautiful in TTRPG supplements.

The series is firmly in my Eternal Pantheon of the bestest things in TTRPGs!

Adaptable NPCs of the Guild Since my discovery of this series with the release of Adaptable NPCs II I have been completely spellbound and this latest entry has somehow defied logic and physics by improving on perfection! I have said before that each of the NPCs contained within any of these books could inspire a side trek, adventure or an entire campaign, and while this holds true, the sheer beauty and detail in this latest instalment is quite frankly absurd. I started playing D&D 5e 3 years ago and have fallen in love ever since. The first character I wanted to make was a necromancer but after seeing the Wizard subclass I quickly was dissapointed. Over the years I've always wanted to play a necromancer but I was given very little oportunity nor the tools to do so in a way that interested me. I've been very critical of homebrew I allow or use, because for me I like using the rules as a tool to tell stories for my players and I enjoy the same consistancy as a player. If you search "homebrew necromancer class" your sure to find a plethora of options but of the massive amount that I looked at only the Pale Master has given me the feeling of an actual necromancer in a balanced well rounded way. However while I think very highly of this class, I've noticed that for the Path of Ash subclass you are given two reaction based abilities on top two other reaction based class abilities. Making it so high level Pale Master's have 4 reactions at any given time on top of other basic reactions such as attacks of opportunites. Though this can been seen as both a design choice and a flaw. On one hand it reinforces that the leader of an army of bone is most comfortable sitting behind their masses of undeath and when they are swarmed by combatents they are overwhelmed as they can't properely utilize all their functions. However on the other hand it can be seen as agrivating to have to covet your reaction so heavily in order to use your level 20 ability on yourself sacrificing your other reaction based abilities in the case that you would need to resist death. However again this can be seen as a design choice but seeing as it is your level 20 ability I was expecting it to be a natural occurence very similiar to the half-orc's Relentless Enduracnce in addition to also gaining advantage on death saving throws. So if I was to change any part of this class those two parts (the activation of your level 20 ability and perhaps adding advantage on death saving throws) would be the only two adjustments as all other parts of the class from what I can tell are well rounded and thought out. I would highly recomened to any player using this class to also talk to your DM about the author's other supplement (which is free) Grimlores Grimoire. Which adds a huge amount of dark and twisted themed spells to the game, however getting your DM to both agree to let you use a custom class and have them read a huge list of spells can be a bit much for any DM. I would recomened simply selecting the spells you would choose from the supplement and having those spells individually greenlit, along with the ones associated with your subclass. Overall this has quickly become my favorite homebrew class out there and I can't recomend it enough to anyone who wants to play a full on necromancer.

Good class, love the feel and theme and love all of it EXCEPT the spell list. my biggest gripe is how theres no notation marking the spells from your own third party source against the "official" spells, and it makes it a minor annoyance to sort throw it is all apart from that its a great class and well done
