Sorcerous Origin - Vampiric Bloodline

A great supplement for those who want to play the children of the night. I especially loved the concept of an artificial vampire, something that is unheard of to me for vampire characters in D&D. Definetly pick this one up if you have any interest in playing a vampire in your campaign!

Sorcerous Origin - Vampiric Bloodline

This vampiric sorcerer origin is honestly very solid. It's a great addition to the very limited pool of options presented in 5th edition, and a huge posibility for me in leveling up in a campaign I'm in. It's definitely at least worth a look through as it gives some fun roleplay and combat options like Subtle Spell to low level spells and the familiar return to sustaining using blood, and options for some of the other races. I have to say one of my favorite things is the ability to turn hit dice into temp hp, which gives them a barrier, but the fragility of the vampirism is still quite apparent. Another great creation from TBM Games.

The Vampiric Bloodline reminds me so much of my first ever campaign, actually run by TBM_Christopher, where one of the players roleplayed his vampire almost the exact same way. That campaign was in 4th edition, and 5th edition has had a lack of both vampires and werewolves, which are pretty dominant focal points I think Wizards missed out on when they set about 5th edition. Adding the sorcerous origin makes them more flashy and more appealing in my eyes. The level 14 bonus was really interesting and made me, a pretty much sole-caster, think to use this class for myself one day. I think fluffing vampires this way is a great way to go about it, and I definitely will try my best to put these sorts of creatures in my own campaign, either to turn my players, or just to have cool vampire cults around the world.

Sorcerous Origin - Vampiric Bloodline

TBM’s Vampiric Bloodline is a great addition for players looking to create a dark hero that’d be right at home in a gothic fantasy setting. Flavorwise this bloodline is a home run. The abilities all take clear inspiration from the classic horror vampire in that they are dark, subtle—and undeniably powerful. Think Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Mechanically this bloodline is balanced and clearly written. The legendary supernatural endurance of the vampire, the monsters iconic shapeshifting, and the manipulations of its dread presence have all been recreated, but evened out by thematic weaknesses exposed in sunlight and a need for blood—given willingly or unwillingly. Notable challenges, but well worth what you receive, and not so crippling that your party will have to wait for you til the sun goes down.

An excellent take on vampires in 5e, I think it's really intuitive to combine their undead nature with a sorcerous origin. When 4e did vampires, it always felt a little awkward to have them be their own class, and yet making vampire a race doesn't feel like quite enough. Making them a sorcerous origin both captures their iconic powers while allowing you to build a lot of very different looking vampires, from the classic charismatic and hypnotic dracula to a more brutal murderer at home in the world of darkness. And now the contrarian in me is going to have to figure out how to stat out a gangrel in 5E ;)
