This is not a free sample. The water-mark is opaque and blocks a lot of the text so it would be a pain to actually use it. It's more of a demo of what the magazine contains.

I slipped this gem into my ongoing campaign and expanded it a bit. The maps are worth the price your asking alone and the story is layed out clearly and gets your players deeply, pun there, involved. It is complex without bogging down and yet kept the interest of my players. Don't stop creating stories.

This was the adventure that jumpstarted my son and my love for D&D. Easy to follow with a great mixture of puzzles, items, monsters, and situations where you can make decisions. I'm getting ready to roll this out again for a new group.

Not really good. No clever traps about that you can think about. The only interessting trap is where a player is exchanged by a doppelganger. The rest is really not interessting - just something (mostly an object) that you take and a trap is activitaed. It would be better to use mechanics that are more complex and where players have to think about...

I was looking for a small taster of the lair magazine to see if the content would work for my group, but instead I got a lair magazine copy with an obnoxious watermark over the top. I would prefer maybe 1 adventure from an older copy, as well as a small selection of other older content. I don't know if this is what this is, but I can't tell from the big bold words.

Lair Magazine is likely a good resource. Downloading this sample was a waste of time and space. Where the words SAMPLE that are written across each page obsuce enough that one only gets to read a paragraph or two per page. Hope, it is the paragraph you wanted to read. I can see myself giving this sample a 4 or 5 stars if the words were not opaque or if the sample were easily read but half the pages were missing.
As is, it is hard to deal with or get a feel for the magazine and the creator.

Another bundle that is worth its weight in gold. Filled with content that is comparable to anything you could buy from WOTC, but without the dozens of pages of fluff that they include for every one thing that is usable in game. 100% a valuable DM resource.

Fantastic and well constructed set of issues, as always. Between all three issues included, it is nearly as much as many official publications, and even more than quite a few. Well worth the cost, even if not discounted.

I really like this. Now to just get my players to actually fill it out. Bribe them with gp perhaps?

The template provides the fundamentals for planning and organizing an adventure, and if this was all that was offered in the product, then this would have gotten a solid 3 stars.
The addition of italicized text in each section provides the reader with more context to help identify how to get the best milage out of the template. Each section also contains example content that demonstrates how the author uses the template within the context provided. The template provides more guidance than expected and the additional effort on the part of the author is really nice.
The inclusion of a docx copy of the template is a nice touch and sidesteps the hassle of having to create an editable digital copy.
Overall it is a simple product with a humble goal, but it is well and thoughtfully executed.

What a guy! I got this download for free from Luke on his subscriber mailing list and after a quick read through I am impressed! for 2$ its well worth the buy. The different monsters have meaningful and compelling sides to join with, depending on how your players engage.

I originally planned on running this for a one shot but it ended up fitting well for one of my campaigns. It helped give me a break on the level of prep work which balanced well since I put this into a VTT. This was worth the price and my party really enjoyed it.
Thanks Luke!

Love it!
Note: the cover doesn't reflect the actual traps inside the booklet. lol (maybe one or two of the images.)
If i counted right, there's 28 Traps in this. (Edit: He updates this and adds more traps over time.)
My favorite things:
1) These traps are simple/easy to understand.
2) they're marked with a difficulty rating "not dangerous/setback?/dangerous?/deadly" and mentions character levels this trap can be for.
2) Description/ Trigger / Effect/ Countermeasures Its suuuuuper clear.
(Constructive Critisism: Please add this to the Trap called "Octonote". It's one long decription but it can be split into "Trigger"[Playing any other note...] and "Countermeasures" [Characters who succeed on a DC...])
Also for fun, I've written into the margin of some of these, to give it a reason to exist. "elf door/lock", "neat item", "bridge trap"..... and my favorite note is "Drunk Wizard". (I mean, come on. a good handful of these were totally created by a drunk wizard and they're awesome.)
These traps are clear, fun, silly, devistating,... its got allllll kinds. I recommend this list of traps to any DM to suppliment their game traps.
