Let the buyer beware

Every freehold knows of at least one. Some seem to have grown up almost overnight, like a ring of small white mushrooms. Others seem to have run for millennia, outliving the rise and fall of the freeholds that surround them. They’ll never go away entirely, despite the dangers of their wares. Someone always needs something you can only get at a Goblin Market.

A chronicle book for Changeling: The Lost

  • Advice on constructing your own Goblin Markets
  • Rules on buying and selling
  • Sample characters, Markets and SAS Market scenes to drop right into your Changeling chronicle

An episode of the White Wolf Blogcast featured the opening fiction of Goblin Markets. You can download the file for free here.

Note: The Black & White print editions of this book are not full-bleed. Because of printing requirements there is a small white border around the edge of the pages.

The core rulebook mentions Goblin Markets briefly. I was always very intrigued but also very confused how they worked. This PDF only supplement fills in the blanks of not only how to create your own Goblin Market, it also gives explicit instructions on [...]

While the content is excellent, this product fails to render properly in Apple Preview, to the point of illegibility (seriously, it ends up as dark grey on black). This, for me, is a major failing, necessitating a work-around to simply read. Not good [...]

'Goblin Markets' continues the reputation for high quality that White Wolf has begun in their PDF range. Whilst this is too small to be a sourcebook (but perhaps act as a chapter or two in a book) this suits PDF publishing perfectly. The Goblin Markets [...]

Goblin Markets brings some needed detail to an important setting of Changeling: the Lost. In previous Changeling books goblin markets were described in a handful of pages, enough for a Storyteller to wing it with a little imagination; but here they are [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
