Nochet: Adventurer's Guide (RuneQuest)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The city of Nochet is the largest city in all Glorantha. It is an ancient city, yet colorful and vibrant. It is a city of wonders, yet a city of day-to-day life. It is a divine city filled with temples and shrines, yet a city of decadence. It is a city of the familiar, yet a city of mystery where the ghosts of ancestors come annually to see what their descendants have accomplished. It is a city of the verge of the HERO WARS.

Nochet: Adventurer's Guide is a player's reference for RuneQuest and provides a summarized view of Glorantha's greatest city for characters just arriving in the city and character generation for those just starting out.

Designed particularly for players, though also useful for gamemasters, Nochet: Adventurer's Guide includes: Newcomers to Nochet including their first events in the city; Character Creation with a new Homeland to expand on the existing RuneQuest core book, new city-relevant Occupations, 15 new cults, new Rune spells, Quick Character Background, What My Mother Told Me, 7 pre-defined Houses for adventurers, and a Cast of Characters to identify friends and foes; Daily Life in Nochet, and an overview of Nochet and its districts. It is a foundation for creating and running characters in this urban Gloranthan setting.

Written for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, Nochet: Adventurer's Guide can be used with 13G or other Gloranthan games.

Nochet: Adventurer's Guide comes with additional pdf and jpg maps of the city.

Note: there is some overlap with Nochet: Queen of Cities, another of my Jonstown Compendium works, primarily in the Cast of Characters, daily life, and city overview.

A version of "What My Mother Told Me: A Personal View of Esrolian Life" by Simon Bray previously appeared as part of "HeroQuest Voices" by Moon Design Publications. The text and its revisions are used with permission.

Awesome. So much detail. A great read even if one is not playing in Nochet yet. Plus new details of cults and backgrounds. [...]

An excellent supplement to the superlative Nochet book. This book adds yet more depth to the city, as well as insights to a number of Esrolian cults. Recommended. [...]

A superb companion and expansion to Harald Smith's comprehensive tome "Nochet, Queen of Cities," two-thirds of the material in this book is entirely new and covers adventurer creation, new cults and occupations, in-world narratives for both [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
