Hey, I got a notice that the game had been updated today with a new page 8 about what happens at the base between quests, but the download is still the same file I downloaded on the 19th? (V.3, 38 pages including covers, page 8 is Adding Companions)

Hi,

I've started playing this, and I'm wondering if I'm playing it wrong.

I lost my 1st character in her 1st mission, and have protected my 2nd character by withdrawing her once she's severely injured, or now once her new armor is damaged. It means a lot of grinding partway through each planet.

I see that she can usually return after losing life force.

Are players supposed to withdraw when injured, or keep going, and rely on their ability to come back?

I also played that she could eat during combat. Is this allowed?

I also healed all injuries and repaired all damage when she returned to base. Is this the intention? Is there supposed to be a cost in credits for this?

If characters lose their life force and return, I assume they lose their armor. Do they also lose equipment and ship upgrades?

You fully heal and repair when returning to base. You can use any consumables during combat. You don't die unless you have 0 credits WHEN you become injured (0 LF) and then die. Otherwise, you just lose the current credits you are holding onto. You MAY retreat from a quest at any time by running away to the "START" space and heading back to heal up, spend credits, etc. I hope this helps!

It uses very a similar system mechanics (2D6 + Stat, need to roll 12) But there are some differences to fit the "play on a single game sheet" type of concept. Thanks for asking!

Recently, I soloed my way through Galactic Heroes, Rebel Stars (37 pages, on sale). It is a rules-light system which uses 2d6. I changed four lines in the Star Wars Traveller Core Book to make my solo engine. I created three first level characters and a ship (fighter). The first encounter was a mine field (in space). It completely destroyed the ship, so, it was a total party kill.

On my second attempt, I used a freighter (has more hull points). The first planet they explored had jungle terrain. They explored a forgotten mine, they checked out an outpost, survived a trap, killed an anaconda, and found a revival stim spray. The "boss" was a strike soldier. They killed him too. On the way back to their base, they encountered an enemy ship (T-Frame Hunter). They destroyed it. After a day of rest, they picked up their next mission. On the way to the next planet they again encountered a T-Frame Hunter and they destroyed it too. However, their ship's hull was down 50%. The planet Crysis had snow/ice...See more

Really a really awesome after-action report. I love the creativity with the system. It is exactly how I intended it to be played! I love the flavor you added with the surrender on the dreadnought. I realize you could easily have a dreadnaught with its own quest if you board it.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
