100 Hooks and Rumours to Hear in or about the Trojan Reach II

ADD TO WISHLIST >

When asking around in the spaceport bar or anywhere else, Travellers may overhear rumours about events on other worlds. They may be insuring about a different matter entirely and stumble across additional information by accident. This supplement has 100 rumours that Travellers could hear. They can be used as misdirection, background information or as potential adventure hooks. The rumours in this supplement cover the Trojan Reach.

Here are some sample results:

  • Gikarlum in the Hkea'as subsector of the Trojan Reach used to trade extensively with Burgess in the same subsector, until the Tiykhisto clan blocked the trade route. The world is now looking for a new trade route to replace that which was lost, unless the Tiykhisto can somehow be convinced to open it up again.
  • Glories Under The Claw is an Aslan corporation that supplies everything the would-be Aslan conqueror needs for an invasion, and is one of the few corporations that does extensive business with the Glorious Empire. It's rumoured that the company is also perfectly willing to keep wars going for as long as possible, so that it can continue selling goods, sometimes to both sides, and such is the case with the Hierate's attempts to conquer the Empire.
  • Inurin in the Borderland subsector of the Trojan Reach is a balkanised world lacking a central starport, though the different nations have their own ports that they try to encourage visitors to land at. There are rumours that some of the nations have gotten especially aggressive in this, attacking ships that are going to land at ports belonging to hostile nations.
  • Irlaiw in the Silraaihe subsector of the Trojan Reach is an Aslan world that is hugely overpopulated and has to rely on shipments from offworld to keep the population fed. The starport has an enormous backlog of traffic, and there are rumours that the Irlaiwi are looking to both expand the starport and develop space habitats for food production.
  • Khtiyrlo in the Hkea'as subsector of the Trojan Reach is the new home of the Tiykhisto clan, who are currently engaged in a War of Assassins with the Ahroah'if, who have also begun a trade embargo. GeDeCo is one of the few human corporations permitted to trade with the Tiykhisto, and there are rumours that the clan is looking to buy not just high-tech and industrial goods, but the infrastructure needed to build the. Such could mean a lot of money for GeDeCo, though the Imperium might not be happy.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
