This list has 100 different locations that are reputed to be haunted. All the hauntings are associated with specific places, and in many cases specific events in the locale's past. In some cases, evidence of a haunting or ghost is believed to have been experienced or encountered. Whether or not any specific location is genuinely haunted is up to the GameMaster. The locales should be suitable for most settings, in some cases with a bit of tweaking. They can be used as flavour, random things to encounter or potential adventure hooks.

Here are some sample results:

  • Ipscay Pond: This village pond now has a sturdy fence around it, as several years ago one of the local children fell into the pond at night and drowned. Though some suggest they were pushed by their supposed friends. Sometimes, those who pass the pond at night claim they can hear splashing water, as of someone struggling in the pond.
  • Jones Foundry: A few scorch marks can be seen in places on the stones of this building, but little remains to show that the place was gutted by an explosion years ago, an explosion that killed four workers. Though the damage is long repaired, since then there have been an unusually high number of accidents in the foundry, from burns to lost limbs, no matter what precautions are taken.
  • Kaelen's Grave: This otherwise undistinguished grave is known for the fact that the person buried within the coffin was not initially as dead as thought when they were buried, though they were when the mistake was made. Sometimes, those near the grave claim they can hear panicked gasps and the scratching of fingers on a coffin lid.
  • Kilcomber Castle: Legends of hauntings are not uncommon for castles, but for Kilcomber there is one specific supposed haunting that stands out. Several centuries ago, someone was said to have been bricked up inside one of the castle's walls, though no-one knows why. They died within the walls and it’s said their spirit roams the halls at night.
  • King's Arms: In the cellar of this pub are various casks full of beer and wine. Years ago, someone was murdered by sealing them inside a cask, an event that was not discovered for some time, until the beer inside turned vile. It's said that sometimes beer tapped in the pub will take on the same taste of rotting flesh that drinkers of the original beer discovered.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
