A GRIM FUTURE OF GLORIOUS ADVENTURE

The sinister schemes of the Chaos Gods have shattered the galaxy. The Great Rift tore through space and reality, pushing mortal life to the precipice of oblivion. The Gilead System has lost contact with the vast Imperium, trapped in the silent darkness. As the shadows of extinction loom, hope fades but is not yet entirely extinguished.

Rallied by the Rogue Trader Jakel Varonius, a disparate group are dedicated to doing what must be done to keep the Gilead System from being consumed by the darkness. Can they resist the machinations of Chaos as well as the plots of those who see the rift as an opportunity to further their own power?

Time is running out in the 41st Millennium. This accursed age needs heroes more than ever before.

Will you answer the call?

The Wrath & Glory Rulebook is everything you need to roleplay grim and glorious adventures in the Gilead System.

What is Wrath & Glory?

Wrath & Glory is the story of the Gilead System, eight Imperial worlds cut off from the Emperor’s light by the Great Rift. The new Rulebook focuses on the Gilead System, allowing you to tell your own stories in a society beset by daemonic invasion and internal corruption.

Character Creation has been streamlined, with a focus on Frameworks. With so many choices of who and what you can play, you’ll want to decide the focus of your game early!

The Factions Chapter is a primer on life in the 41st Millennium, detailing each of the organisations vying for supremacy in the Warp-torn Gilead System. Here you’ll find expanded background options for every Faction, each of which provides a bonus during play.

The Archetypes you know and love have been presented in an easy-to-read, single-page format. All requirements have been removed, and extra bonuses have been added to complement the slight changes to Wrath & Glory. The Attribute, Skill, and Talent suggestions are ideal for guiding new players through making a character, or building quick NPCs on the fly.

The Wrath & Glory Talent list has been massively expanded into an entire chapter for a greater range of character customisation. Some of these are classic Warhammer fare we know and love — tearing through armour, proficiency with blazing promethium, and, of course, MORE DAKKA! There are other choices for investigative or social-based games. Talents like Conversational Cogitator bring the focus back to roleplaying, letting you use the augmetics of your mechanised mind to calculate the best response in any conversation.

Once you’ve survived a few adventures (hopefully without losing too many limbs), you’ll have gathered some Experience Points (XP). The new Advancement chapter has overhauled the Ascension system, allowing you to change Archetypes, take new Ascension Packages, or just spend your XP on cool stuff. The system is designed to be both robust and flexible to suit any group.

The essential Rules have been reviewed, edited, playtested, and presented with a focus on clarity and quick understanding. Very little has changed bar a few simplifications, which will mean you’re using the book less and your imagination more.

Combat is around every corner in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium. We’ve gone through all the errata for Wrath & Glory, taking the same approach as with the Rules. Combat is largely unchanged, apart from simplification, clarification, and some cool new optional rules, including an entirely new Stealth system.

Are there any plans for an ork supplement similar to the recently released Aeldari book?

Is this cross compatible with other Warhammer 40k roleplay titles like Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader?

Hi Dan, this uses a different game system based on pools of d6 rather than the d100 system used by those games. If you're looking for a d100 system then please take a look at Imperium Maledictum which was released a few months ago. It uses a d100 system and has more in common with Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader. Hope this helps!

Does this current version (most recent update is, at time of writing this, December 2021) include the fixes and errata that have been published separately by Cubicle 7 since their take of W&G was first released? Or am I going to just be buying the same book, but in PDF format with no fixes?

This includes two character sheets that are titled "fillable" and "calculating", but are locked from editing. What's the deal with that?

Hey Michael, thanks for bringing to our attention - it turns out some watermark settings were ruining functionality of the sheets! They've been changed but allow some time for Drive Thru to reset the files - you can also grab these from:

Basically I'm only into playing orks or eldar. How much of that's in this? Humans in 40k are so boring.

Plenty...they get almost as much treatment...but if you consider the Imperium boring, I suggest you dive in some more...easily the most interesting representation of humans (or any other race) in fiction.

It'd be really nice if the PDF wasn't completely locked from editing so that people could add in their own Bookmarks for relevant page-jumping. This was especially egregious in v2 document considering it was missing an -entire chapter- of bookmarks, and while the 2.1 version is much better in this regard, there are still pages I'd like to add bookmarks for that aren't there, and the inability to add my own bookmarks makes this incredibly frustrating.

Lack of vehicle rules in a modern or sci fi RPG is an unforgivable omission. This book does NOT have everything everything you need to roleplay grim and glorious adventures in the Gilead System (it has the same mistake the original Dark Heresy 40K RPG made). Given that the 1st edition had vehicle rules this PDF is a retrograde step in my opinion (the new edition is 70 pages shorter with removal of vital rules).

As one of the writers for the revised version, it is my understanding that the developer choice to remove the vehicle rules is so that they could be presented more fully, updated, and just generally better, in a later release.

Maybe, but I still feel vehicles are a core rule in a sci fi RPG. That said, when I purchased the PDF I got a "legacy files" zip which includes the first edition which has vehicle rules so PDF buyers won't miss out.

My understanding is when you get this in PDF you get previous version that has the vehicle and starship rules. This version had added allot of character talents.

I purchased the previous book at my FLGaming store when it initially came out. I understand people who purchased on Drive Thru got a free copy of the new PDF, do those of us who purchased the hard cover in-store get the same treatment?

I'm more of an experimental type of a GM. I'd like to play some stories in the 40K worlds that put more emphasis on personal drama, meaningful social interactions, and the pholisophical side of religion than let's say fighting. Does this rulebook have me covered? Or should I go with a homebrew system?

You can entirely run such stories with the rules as presented. The conflict resolution methods can easily be used for social and investigative interactions.

I have the September 2020 updated files, there is still one error on the character sheet. The character sheet says you may use Wrath to restore double Rank Shock, but the rule book says you may use Wrath to restore Rank + Tier Shock. The character sheet and rule book should match. I'm guessing the rule book is correct, since more work went into revising that.

Rules question: If all members of a mob have only 1 wound, wouldn't flamers, that autohit and can easily put 1 wound on most targets, doesn't that make them a bit unbalanced?

In that situation the flamer is likely intended to treat the whole mob as a single target instead of treating individual members as separate ones. So I'd rule a flamer doing 1 wound to a mob as one of them stepping in the way to block it for the rest for example.

Being new to Warhammer 40k i bought here the old U Spiel version that was replaced with Cubicle's. As far i enjoyed it but i found it lacks really lot of background elements for somebody new to this universe: you have to keep underhand the "Legacy"from former version that has plenty informations more (80 pages) including all about the Dark Imperium out of Gilead system, the vehicles, renegades archetypes, part of bestiary (There is no monster in new one)... Which leads to the question: why it was not include in this version?

Honestly would recommend the other titles - Dark Heresy, etc - as they has plenty more background and are far more atmospheric

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
