german-troops.gifAt 4:45AM on the morning of Friday, September the 1st, 1939 – the German army ignited the Second World War as 52 divisions invaded Poland. Like dominoes the nations of Europe mobilized in the face of Nazi aggression, preparing for the coming storm that would blanket the world until the surrender of the Empire of Japan on the 2nd of September, 1945.

This art pack contains a collection of 3D rendered gaming tokens for use with virtual tabletop roleplaying software such as Fantasy Grounds, or Battlegrounds. Second World War Roleplaying

This token pack is perfect for Game Masters setting up a Second World War themed campaign, as it provides a wealth of character tokens to represent the Wehrmacht forces deployed during the Second World War. A companion pack is the Yanks Token Pack which provides the player with a range of American Army token character sets.

This token pack is for use with programs such as Fantasy Grounds or Battlegrounds. This is not a self contained game, but a gaming aid for use in virtual tabletop roleplaying software.

Deploying the Tokens

When you purchase this token pack you will be given two download options, the first is the standard raw token image files and a guide PDF telling you how to install the tokens into your Fantasy Grounds Data folder for use in your next Modern themed adventure campaign session. This file’s contents can also be used in VTT systems such as Battlegrounds or Roll20 (but you will need to consult the FAQ documentation for those programs about how they employ tokens.

The second option is a Fantasy Grounds Module file which (when unpacked from the downloadable ZIP file) is to be placed into the Modules folder within your Fantasy Grounds Data Folder. With the module installed you can activate or deactivate the Modern Day Adventurers tokens from within the Modules window within Fantasy Grounds itself.

Jason, the artwork for these and the Yanks is excellent but I'm having some issues. I've imported these sets into the new Fantasy Grounds Unity and i can't get them to size properly. Normally you can use "Alt+Mouse Wheel" and resize a token. So far, these tokens either won't size larger or immediately start getting smaller regardless the direction I take the mouse wheel. i verified other tokens (not from your product) seem to work normally. i can't explain it but figured I would let you know.

Do these work on Tabletop Simulator or Vassal?

Tabletop Simulator looks like it is meant for 3D models, and thus I guess this pack would not be appropriate for it as the assets inside this package are 2D pictures for Virtual Tabletop Apps such as Fantasy Grounds, Battlegrounds, Roll20, or d20Pro.

The 2D images might be useful in Vassal, but you would need to consult Vassal's FAQ about using .png image files as game tokens.

Can these tokens be printed off on paper?

They could be printed, but they are not designed for printing and are thus not really a high enough resolution to look good when printed. The tokens were designed for use in virtual tabletop top apps such as Fantasy Grounds, Battlegrounds, Roll20, d20Pro, etc.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
