Rob's Note: This product is a guidebook and a rulebook that represents my own take on the Wilderlands setting. While related to Judges Guild's Wilderlands of High Fantasy it is own setting using similar geography and place names. It also an overview of the setting and does not contain any hexmaps or listings. For an overview of the contents please look over the table of contents found in the full preview.

For products related to the original Judges Guild Wilderlands see the products listed in the Judges Guild section or visit the Judges Guild storefront on DriveThruRPG.

The product description doesn't ackowledge that there are no hexmaps in this product despite being known to be a hexcrawl. I appreciate the rules and character information, but I bought this on the presumption that I'd have have several hex maps with [...]

The material released by Judges Guild has delighted generations of gamers. For many, it was an integral part of their gaming childhood or early adulthood. The Wilderlands setting has long stood as a monument to the joys of hex-based exploration. [...]

It seems like everyone has their own spin on the classic Wilderlands line by Judges Guild. James Mishler has his spin on the Wilderlands and now Robert Conley is giving us his vision with the Majestic Wilderlands. So, what do you get for your 7 [...]

I bought this item in a fit of Old School nostalgia, and I am very pleased to say it hit the spot! Roughly half this book details out a campaign world that - while I may read for inspiration and enjoyment - i will probably never use. It is well [...]

Just purchased this product and in general I am pleased. My only negative observation is that the product suffers from far too numerous grammatical errors that are a real distraction to the reader. A good proofreading and cleanup is necessary. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
