Just Add Dice: Random Cave Designer

Watermarked PDF

In front of you the mouth of the cave yawns open.

It's a familiar seen to any gamer - a party geared up and ready for a long road ahead stands at the mouth of a cave and makes its final preparations before descending into the bowels of the earth. And while a prepared game master may have a map of the cave and some notes on the monsters and treasures contained therein, how much does he know about the cave itself? What kind of rock is it made of? Is there any natural mineral or gem deposits?

Well, have no fear, brave Game Master. Healing Fireball Publishing is here for you with the latest in our Just Add Dice line of products, the Random Cave Designer. With just a set of dice and this book you have the answers to all these questions and more as you quickly and easily design unique, dynamic caves for your players to explore. So grab your dice and spark your imagination.

Please Note: This product's tables are designed around making unique natural caves to add to your world and not dungeons or other worked-stone structures.

Now an even Better Value: This product has been updated! Included are several new tables including Metal/Gem Deposit Quality Table and a Deposit Location Table. Additionally, the Cave Entrance Table has been split in two with a Natural and Manmade Entrance Table. As a final bonus Special/Rare Tables for metal and gem deposits containing 5 rare options and 5 example fantasy options have been included.

Bottom Line: Does it do what it says (give tables that generate interesting natural-not-dungeon caves?) Yes. Was it worth $5? It was to me. The rest are just nits for the prehistoric purist such as myself. As most of these products do, [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
