We are proud to present "Dragon Carnival: A Session Zero Adventure".

To celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Dragon on the 10th February, GreedyGorgonPress have created a carnival one shot. Dragon Carnival guides players old and new through the process of character creation in an original and fun way - packed full with festival mini games, encounters against against a new type of dragon and other monsters in Harmum and Scaly's big top, and finishing with a grand finale. Can you make that clutch roll?

Your session zero should be part of the story - not hours of administrative form-filling. Let's start with a bang, a crash and a wallop!

You'll never start a campaign the same way again!

Following our 7822% funded Kickstarter campaign, this edition is a crowded market with nearly 50 pages of content containing...

  • More than 20 carnival mini games to help players roll their stats and practise their skills.
  • Games like giant rat jousting, eye of the tiger, morning song contest, pie eating, bronco riding and so many more.
  • More than 20 new magical items to win and buy at the fair.
  • 4 new player races: Simian, Ratfolk, Mutt and Hogborn.
  • 12 new starting feats - one for each animal of the zodiac.
  • NPCs like Madame Fatalis, the fortune teller, who helps players choose their background with her card deck. Then there's Master Zo Diak, the mad mage in charge of this fiery festival. Plus, a bunch of former champions who can serve as mentors for your players as your campaign continues.
  • 3 encounters in the arena against a new type of dragon and chimera with a new narrative thread to follow into our next adventure...*Gladiators!*
  • Plus, a big finale where it all comes down to one "Hail Mary" roll.
  • A comprehensive custom JPEG battlemap.
  • Readaloud descriptions and worldbuilding to cut down on prep and flesh-out your setting.

A few pages have some issues with the text. This is especially evident in the "Feats" section, where the black text is over a dark painting, making some of it impossible to read. There's also a large gradient shaded rectangle which might be covering some of the text.

There are other examples thoughout the file of this.

I think this depends on the software you use to open the PDF. I don’t have this issue in Adobe but did in Preview.

I was able to open it in Chrome, then print it "as an image" to a new PDF. This doubled the size (to 30 MB) and the text isn't editable, but I think that's the best solution for me. (That, or always use Chrome to open it) I'm using Linux, but this is the first time I've had a problem with rendering a PDF.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
