This is Issue 1; you can get it and download it right now! Our goal was three issues for this first run, with three articles in each issue—but once we started reaching out to freelancers we sort of couldn’t make up our minds. There were a lot of great pitches! So this first issue is 4 articles, the second issue is 3, and the third issue is 4 again. :D Of course, we hope to go on to do issues 4, 5, and who knows how many? But first we want to use these three issues as a learning tool to see what we can do better, and learn how much demand there is for this. We hope you like this first issue; everyone worked hard on it and we’re really proud of how it turned out. — Matt & the ARCADIA Crew The Workshop Watches by Leon Barillaro This is a short adventure for 5th-level characters fe...

Thanks for checking out ARCADIA 4! This issue’s beautiful fallen angel cover was created by MCDM’s own in-house artist, Grace Cheung. Here’s what else you can find in ARCADIA 4: Willy Abeel returns with Swimming through Sand to Sea: More Mounted Adventuring. You probably remember Willy’s work from “Jumping on Mounted Combat” in ARCADIA 1. This article brings forth four new mounts known for their burrowing and swimming prowess: the axolotle,* the chuul, the bulette, and the juvenile purple worm. Plus, Willy created eight new magic items so you can take any mount out of its natural habitat and into a dank dungeon. MCDM’s staff artist and art outsource manager, Nick De Spain, makes these mounts leap off the page. The Chained Library from Cat Evans gives you a new adventure location and o...

MCDM crew here to bring you the bold and beautiful ARCADIA 5. Check out that mind-blowing cover by Sean Andrew Murray! All of Sean’s work is incredibly evocative! Here’s what else is inside ARCADIA 5: Leon Barillaro, who wrote ARCADIA 1’s “Workshop Watches,” is back with a new devious article simply titled, “Long-Term Curses.” These magical torments can’t be undone by a simple remove curse spell. Your character must break a curse by adventuring if they find themselves predicting a future no one believes, constantly followed by ravens, or turning into a puddle of slime. Gustavo Pelissari drew the unique art for this article. Unleash your greed with Carlos Cisco’s “Goldmonger Subclasses”. The Avarice Domain cleric, the Circle of the Gilded druid, and the Oath of Acquisitions pa...

Out of the many ideas for a SHARKADIA cover, Veronica created a masterpiece! My favorite little detail is the little teeny tiny fish on the end of the line … with the gargantuan shark-monster lunging up to devour it (and probably the whole boat) from below. C h o m p. But such a large creature might need more sustenance, so I’m imagining it uses those teeth to chew through huge swathes of kelp forests. Captain Ralazar’s Guide to Sea Monsters by James Introcaso with art from Zuzanna Wuzyk Our very own lead designer James Introcaso used his expert shark knowledge to create a salty compendium of creatures and magic items documented by a legendary sailor. Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
