The Crystal Hive

As the Moon Gate Exploration Co. travel through the arched stone portal, they find themselves in unfamiliar lands filled with dangers and horrors untold. The terrain, towns, and even the creatures encountered therein may not resemble any that they have seen in their previous travels. Or they might seem much too familiar for their comfort. Regardless of the risks, exploration is their business, and the company sets forth to map yet another uncharted realm.

All roads in the open desert lead to the Bone Market – a mecca of stacked crates and trade goods under the shade of the towering bones of its great creatures that have perished in the blistering heat. Supplies are low as caravans have not reached the market, and bands of local mercenaries have not returned. The Moon Gate Exploration Co. has been tasked with investigating the nearby village of Penketh, and its mead distillery, to find the cause of the delays. What they will find are instead disappearances – an entire village abandoned – and the distillery taken back by the Giant Honey Wasps themselves.  

Gear up for an exploration that will test even the hardiest of adventurers in The Crystal Hive. Map terrain includes honey pools and special rules for movement in the sticky environment. The players will break open Honey Crystals to find magic items, encounter wandering hive denizens, and find that their trusted guide is actually the villain!

An introductory adventure in Moon Gate's desert realm of Damaz. A one-shot for 4-6 characters that can take up to 4 hours to complete. It can be placed into your desert campaign or played on its own. Options to adjust the adventure for parties of level 5/8/10+ and up are included with each encounter.  

The 20 page PDF adventure book includes Moon Gate custom monsters and the zip file holds the full color desert encounter map and the hive map in both gridded and ungridded versions for tabletop or VTT use.

Moon Gate adventures are written for and inspired by the characters that are brought to the table. My games have inspirations instead of dedications, and this exploration is filled with nods to encounters that have left lasting impressions upon my players. - Stacy
