Adventure Class Ships

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Adventure Class Ships, those vessels of 2,000 tons or less, are the mainstay of Traveller and the most common ships found on the spacelanes by far. This book gives you more than 60 new ships in this class, to be used by Travellers, pirates, traders, government forces and corporations. Each vessel has a specific role in the universe and has been built to accomplish it with the best components available to its builders.

In this book you will find:

Exploration Ships: These are the vessels that travel far beyond the frontier, seeking new worlds, aliens, and awe-inspiring stellar phenomena.

Merchant Ships: The backbone of interstellar commerce, in this book you will find merchant vessels of all sizes and for all budgets.

Passenger Ships: While merchant ships carry cargo, these vessels carry people, and Travellers are likely to have been carried by many of them in their lives.

Working Ships: The unsung heroes of space, these ships keep the galaxy turning and include salvage ships, jump cutters, customs patrol craft, prison ferries and more.

Military Ships: These are ships with guns, designed to out-manoeuvre and outfight any enemies they come across. Pirates and corsairs use similar vessels, though for very different purposes.

Traveller-built Ships: What happens when Travellers with millions of Credits decide to design their own ship? This chapter explores the expansive and often highly specific ships that can result.

Aslan, Sword Worlds and Vargr Ships: Beyond the Third Imperium and its affiliated states, other empires can have very different takes on ship design, but these vessels might just be the perfect ride for a group of Travellers.

Plus rules on how your Travellers can get their hands on any of these ships after their careers are completed and they are ready to voyage across the stars.

Just bought this and haven't gotten all the way through it, yet already have a couple of issues. The map of the Type SX Frontiersman is missing except for the numbers (also is in the review but I honestly didn't think it would be in the final product). Also, the Medical Scout doesn't show where the Slow Pinnace should be located. With all that, still an excellent product and hope these details can be addressed soon in an update.

Hi there,

The Slow Pinnace docks into 4. Docking Space near the aft of the Medical Scout (the Air-Rafts are in the smaller ones a little fore).

With regards to the Frontiersman, I am not sure what you mean tat the map is missing? It appears on the PDF for me. May I ask what reader you are using, and whether you have noticed this issue with any other ship?

We'll see what we can do for you!

I was just Getting ready to edit my post. Apparently its my old tablet not rendering all the maps correctly! I move this to 5 stars and my apologies for jumping the gun! It looks great on my laptop. And totally get the docking situation now. I really appreciate your quick response and as a player of Traveller since the beginning of time, I appreciate you keeping up the good work.

It's the value of the content not how it is delivered.

I have pre-ordered the hard copy from the publisher - got the PDF for free ... win/win as far as I am concerned.

To each their own. It's the beauty of a free market ... choice and what the consumer feels has value.

It does seem expensive initially, but we do have the option of buying the print copy from Mongoose's website and getting a PDF included (still going to cost me about $90 in New Zealand). I've bought a load of Mongoose Traveller books that now sit on my bookshelf, perhaps far more than I will ever use. My suggestion is to carefully decide what books you most need and not feel obligated to be a completionist. As for this book, it does look very helpful from the preview and if I considered the hours of time it would take me to generate 60-70 ships to populate my campaigns then US$29 would seem a fair exchange (50c per ship). All that said, when it comes down to home economics it's best not to buy what you won't make use of.

Same old whine. Use an online calculator to work out what 30 bucks would have been in 1980 & tell me how that compares to the price of an LBB.

I just did that exercise in UK pounds and the 2023 Mongoose price is roughly the cost of a 1980 LBB as I remembered it. Definitely one of the FASA Traveller modules.

Did someone enter the wrong value for only a PDF? Almost 42 cad at the time of asking.

Same price as PDF currently listed on the publisher (Mongoose Publishing) web store, so not a misprint

Mongoose have pretty high prices on their PDFs across the board, at least for stuff that's for their current editions.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
