The Misplace is a psychological horror-inspired, 5th-edition compatible supplemetary plane of existence, built to be slotted into any campaign where your players want (or deserve) to have their world turned on its head. The realm itself is a horrific interplanar void, a residual crevice between the seat-cushions of reality where things that are lost, either by mishap, by malice, or the ravages of time, may slip down to - the place where all things, finally, fade. Wracked with memory-wiping storms and creatures that smell and hunt meaning itself like blood, survival within The Misplace is near impossible, making any expedition within its Depths a perilous task, one that risks losing yourself entirely.

This supplement serves as a guide to realms of The Misplace, offering a wealth of terrifying and intriguing creatures and NPCs to encounter, alongside a range of memory-threatening mechanics to engage with, acting ideally as a sandbox within which you can toss the discarded histories and details of your own worlds, for players to explore (or run away from). The Misplace can be used either as a short expedition to retrieve a valuable item, lost character(s), or pertinent piece of information, and/or as a larger, pervasive element of your world, though ideally functions for a 5th-7th level party.

This project was created as part of an MA Publishing Dissertation, complementing a wider research aim into exploring the difficulties of independent content creation and publication within the TTRPG industry. The Misplace is entirely human made, its creation as much to highlight the incredible talent and creative work of its contributors, your considered downloading of this PDF and spreading of their efforts incredibly appreciated.
