Light of the Moon

Another world exists, its denizens going about their business away from the watchful eyes of humanity. They lurk in the deep woods, live in abandoned structures and carry on without a care in the world. That was until recently, at least. In recent years the world of humans and the world of cryptids has started to overlap. Paranormal events are drawing the attention of the layman and powerful organizations alike. It's a dangerous world for a group of cryptids to step into, but there may no longer be a choice.

Light of the Moon is a Tabletop Role Playing Game (TTRPG) that focuses on the monster's side of supernatural scenarios. In this system each player controls their own cryptid, working with the rest of their party to achieve their goals together while keeping their existence on a need-to-know basis. Their primary concern will be the humans that almost always live nearby. The threat of discovery or capture is constant as the party makes daring forays into the world of the humans, hoping each time to come back in one piece. These daily fights for survival will be the main source of tension for players as they navigate a pair of worlds that continue to violently collide.

Play as your favorite cryptids!

Light of the Moon provides a wide variety of cryptid species to choose from during character creation. These species act as guidelines for the character creation process, helping players create a specific kind of cryptid. Players are also free to totally disregard these species and create their own crytpid species during character creation. The sky's the limit!

Use a variety of abilities!

Each player character will have a few traits and flaws that make them who they are. The traits found in this sourcebook include abilities like flight, hypnosis and blood draining. Flaws are the other side of this coin, balancing out player characters with some drawbacks. You'll find flaws such as a bad temper, being hunted by a certain person or group and specific weaknesses like fire or silver.

While the setting for Light of the Moon is entirely up to you, it comes with the default setting of Newshire. A small, coastal town in Maine. Newshire used to be a quiet town where nothing much happened, until recently. In the past few years Newshire has become a hotspot of paranormal activity. Strange creatures have been sighted in the woods. Unexplained objects dart through the sky each night. This has attracted the attention of a specific branch of the FBI, the Office of Paranormal Investigation.

This sourcebook comes with a list of locations in Newshire, paranormal events that occur there and stats for major NPCs that the players might encounter.
