The Techno Fantasy Atlas is planned for release at Lucca Comics & Games 2023, at the end of October.
My educated guess is that the English release will come in the first half of 2024.

The table of Keys for Chanters appears to have been mixed up. Radiance, Shadow, Stone, and Thunder are jumbled, with those names given to Thunder, Radiance, Shadow and Stone, respectively (judging from the associated elemental types).

Love this so far! I'm assuming that the powers listed on pg.126 (128 .pdf reader) are Zero Effects and not Zero Triggers. The table might need some relabeling, but the Zero Power idea is very enticing. I love the description that Zero Powers make the protagonists "downright excessive." Made me giggle.

Please note that the bookmarks to Zero Powers and Zero Power Variations are both currently broken: they take the reader to High Fantasy Quirks. Normally I'd just fix something like this myself, but you've set security on the PDF that prevents the reader from deleting/adding their own bookmarks.

How about this idea, if we’re going to hash this out let’s be nice about it. Let’s use intelligence and facts instead of sarcasm and disrespect. It might actually be fun. We’re gamers we like to have fun. We also like to be right lol.
I want to say that the contents of this book are very useful and fun. I bought it and I’m keeping it. I will now attempt to clarify my original comments.
My point: If I’m at the grocery store and I pick up a can and it says “green beans“ I can assume that this can contains green beans. I do not have to read the fine print. And if I buy it and take it home and I open that can and there’s corn in it, the manufacturer is not going to argue with me that “ I should have read the description. It’s not actually a can of green beans though it says so on the can”. That’s really my point nothing else.
The title of this book says “Atlas”. I should not have to read the description to find out that the book is not an atlas. Considering that an...See more

I contend that, in your example, if the other branding information on the can were at odds, you would not expect green beans. For example, if the picture was of a beans for St. Patrick's day, just colored green, you'd expect green colored beans, not green beans. You're 100% right though, that if it was a cold war era survival rations can with a white label and black block lettering saying "GREEN BEANS" your expectations would be spot on, and it would be annoying if the contents were at odds.

In the RPG space, we're often trying to use words to be evocative of our other sensations. If I say there's a book on the shelf, you have one mental image, but if I say there's a dusty grimoire, you have a totally different, more detailed mental picture, even if that book is technically not a grimoire, and doesn't contain literal spells, but only contained old, ancient knowledge and lore. In this case, Atlas is meant to be evocative of the feeling that the product is purported to contain, a map by...See more

So typically I would leave matters like this alone however I keep on seeing people making really weird responses to this so I'm here to clarify some things. So to begin with words are ever evolving in the English language picking up new meanings based on corporations, societal norms, social media, and even within the scholar Circle basically words are Dynamic things. So here's the thing if you look at that can of green bean example yes a can of green beans should mean green beans however would it honestly be anything inconceivable if people start using the series of words canned green beans as a phrase to mean training to become less weak. In this situation Atlas is closer to the word cool while the word cool itself usually means an object that is colder than his surroundings the word cool has now been associated with someone who is interesting, epic, or awesome. What's that being said Atlas itself actually comes from a similar case. There are a numerous amount of companies that uses the word Atlas as a definition...See more

@Juivantz C: Atlas may mean a collection of maps or sometimes or a world/game setting exploration, usually with the help of pictures and maps. Atlas is not used anywhere to mean rulebook, neither in RPG context nor any other context. This book is an RPG rulebook that describes mechanic systems, monsters block stats, player mechanics, etc. This is not a book that defines a world or explores a setting. It does a little bit, but like all RPG rulebooks, not like an Atlas would. That is the complaint of Robert R: not that the word has evolved but that the author has misused it. Which he has.

@Robert R: Atlas may not describe the content of the book, and I understand that could have been confusing to you ... but.... How do you buy a book without reading the description? I mean, if you are already skipping one paragraph describing the content of a book, are you sure that it is the right media for you? Yes the title is a bit misleading but the description clearly tells you that there are game rules, monster...See more

Interesting views. Thorough.
And I appreciate your gratitude and kindness.
I am not much of a debater. I kind of put my thoughts up on the idea table with the rest of the covered dishes. I will say this and try to keep it clear and short. If I see a sign above the door that says EXIT, I’m going to assume (and that is its design) that that’s the way out. I don’t have to read anything else or check context. If I see a book title that says “Atlas”, I will assume, (in the spirit of the Exit sign) that it’s a book of maps. I would never, and I’m only speaking for myself here, consider that I better read the description to make sure it actually is an atlas. However, not reading the description is something I’ll never do again. At least not here on DT. Lesson learned.
This has been a lively discussion, but I think it’s played itself out for me. :)
Fabula Ultima and supplements are worth getting. Even if you’re just a collector.
Happy gaming.

Tangential to this specific product, but what I'd really love from Fabula Ultima more than any new mechanics would be just a big ol' book of vignettes, fleshed-out story hooks, ready-to-drop-in encounters, etc. I've been GMing a long time, and I've got all the game mechanics I will ever need and then some. What I need (and want), especially for the "JRPG/anime-inspired" genre, is grist for the creative mill. Give me "Kishotenketsu: The Adventure Module" and I'll be happy.

This book is NOT an Atlas. The following is the definition of an atlas.

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/atlas
a book containing maps:
a road atlas
an atlas of the world

There are no maps in this book. This is a book of narratives, describing locations based on the actual core rules system. I was expecting actual location maps. THIS IS NOT AN ATLAS.

I’d like Fabula Ultima. But this book title is misleading at best. Be advised you may love it if you’re not looking for a map. I will say that what’s in it is well done and interesting as the whole system is. But this is NOT an atlas. I wanted an atlas like the title says.

Exactly, I mean there's a literal bulleted list of exactly what's in the book... In a meta-sense, it's an atlas for navigating the fantasy genre using Fabula Ultima, not a literal atlas which, if you've read Fabula Ultima at all, would be practically useless. The game expects you to be building the world WITH your players, not having it all mapped out before everyone sits down at the table. It's more like PbtA games where you're supposed to leave blank spaces for play to fill in. This book shows you HOW to fill in those blank spaces for the Fantasy genre.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
