Mists of Akuma: Hunting the Demon Stag

Selected Option:

Mists of Akuma adventure for 4–6 PCs of 14th–17th level.

Delve into the eastern fantasy noir steampunk world of Mists of Akuma (original setting book | anniversary edition) with this module for high level adventure!

Namida Prefecture once boasted a respectable and lucrative timber industry, but excessive deforestation during the Kengen Occupation has destroyed the traditional livelihood of its peoples. Now the only reminders of its time-honored past are the guards who wield a hatchet in each hand, and the Namida family standard that still bears the iconic and majestic stag: a proud symbol of a wild, untamed spirit.

On the verge of bankruptcy and beset on all sides by predatory neighbors, the Namida clan is a cornered beast ready to lash out at the slightest provocation. Its noble court rife with intrigue and distrust, the barren Namida badlands are fertile grounds for a nearby oni warlord to sow seeds of destruction and make its own play for power.

Much is at stake—the survival of the Namidan people, the fate of a legendary artifact, and the fragile stability of northwestern Soburin. Adventurers must tread carefully and act boldly when they are faced with deciding between the lesser of two evils!

  • Encounters for the badlands of Namida.
  • Exciting combat in Ikedori Arena with a half-dozen ways to amp the adrenaline!
  • Beautiful regional map for Kadowe's Domain by cartographer Theodor Andrei, plus 6 full-color battlemaps.
  • Hyperlinks throughout for easily accessing standard NPCs, magici tems, and other reference material.
  • Statistics for over two dozen monsters and NPCs from the familiar (CR 11 Antler of the Stag, CR 12 Oni Bengoshi) to new foes (a full oni court of enemies and more!)
  • Mists of Akuma character sheets.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
