Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition | Roll20 VTT

Paizo’s Pathfinder classic has been converted in its entirety to Roll20! Enjoy the complete adventure with all the immersion of dynamic lighting, one click actions and bonus compendium integration!

In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing. An attack by crazed goblins reveals the shadows of a forgotten past returning to threaten the town—and perhaps all of Varisia. The Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path begins with this goblin raid and takes players on an epic journey through the land of Varisia as they track a cult of serial killers, fight backwoods ogres, stop an advancing army of stone giants, delve into ancient dungeons, and finally face off against a wizard-king in his ancient mountaintop city. This hardcover compilation updates the fan-favorite campaign to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rules with revised and new content in more than 400 pages packed with mayhem, excitement, and adventure!

Celebrating both the fifth anniversary of the Pathfinder Adventure Path and the tenth anniversary of Paizo Publishing, this new edition expands the original campaign with new options and refined encounters throughout, incorporating 5 years of community feedback.

The Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition contains:

  • A complete, ready to run adventure laid out in Roll20 with dynamic lighting support (requires plus / pro subscription), easy to share handouts and more.
  • Over 340 creatures to encounter, each with complete character sheets, associated tokens, and one-click actions and spells.
  • A bonus compendium featuring eight monsters updated from the original Adventure Path, plus seven spells, thirty-six items, and one feat, that you can drop into any of your Pathfinder games.
  • Articles on the major locations of Rise of the Runelords: sleepy Sandpoint, the ancient Thassilonian city of Xin-Shalast, and others.
  • Dozens of new illustrations, never-before-seen characters, location maps, and more!

Got Questions? We have answers!

I purchased the module, now what?

When you go to Create New Game on Roll20, you can now select Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition from the modules on the right. Click, setup, and play!

Which character sheet should I use?

All official Pathfinder content on Roll20 uses the Pathfinder by Roll20 character sheet.

How do I access the compendium?

In any game with a Pathfinder character sheet, travel to the compendium tab (i). There you will see all the Pathfinder compendium entries you have unlocked. You can view the web compendium here.

How do I utilize the Random Encounter Addon?

Rise of the Runelords is a very large product. In order to help cut down on game size, we have separated the optional Random Encounter NPCs into the Random Encounter Addon. We recommend only importing this into your game if Random Encounters come into play. For GMs with a Pro Subscription, we recommend creating a GM Only game with this addon integrated, and transmogrifying in creatures when needed. Please note that adding in the Random Encounter Addon into the core module may make the game large enough that duplicating the game will no longer be possible. You can learn about integrating addons here.

I'm having another issue. What do I do?

Please report any difficulties you experience on the Help Center.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
