Hraxet's Humble Homes: Barebones Edition

Shitholes: Hraxet's Humble Homes

You wake to your inner demons hammering away at the inside of your skull. It takes a moment to gather yourself, and when you do, the smell hits harder than the liquor you drank. You wince and quickly sit upright. Looking around you see the same old bleakness of every forgotten alley, in every part of this forgotten city. You wipe off the slime stuck to your face, and almost puke when it flies to the ground.

"What the hell happened last night?" You think. Think real hard. You remember the drinks alone. Remember the drinks with strangers. Remember walking somewhere, and then a dimly lit room. A smile. A cackle. A pen. Wax. Then it dawns on you.  Frantically searching through your pockets you produce a crumpled up piece of parchment.  Unfolding it unveils large golden calligraphy at the top of the page: Hraxet’s Humble Homes. Scanning through the document more, the words signature of the undersigned with your poorly written name next to it pop out, and just below that is a neatly pressed wax seal depicting the horrifying Triple H nobody ever wants to see.

A whimper of regret escapes your mouth knowing you’ve been swindled into a deal with the devil. Starting back at the top you begin reading again, only this time much slower in order to determine what horrible purchase you have made…

What the hell is this?

This is a third party supplement for the TTRPG Mörk Borg. It's a way to add another layer of misery to your already miserable world by having your players purchase a property they never wanted. What a wonderful life! They'll be sick with joy when they realize how much silver they bought it for.

Misery aside, it'll be a great aid to help GMs create new adventures, interesting NPCs, and encounters. Most importantly, the PCs will have a great time finding out what they bought, and how the hell they are going to find it. Hraxet, that asshole, doesn’t really know how to get there. The only information he has is on crumpled up pieces of paper. Filled with promises, rumors, and superstitions.

In Development:

Currently the main rules are finished. You can generate your very own shithole, and use the basic rules when resting there. However, there are other optional rules I want to add and are still in development: raiding, lackeys, additions, hexed/cursed furniture, raid dungeons, and a concept revolving around filth. More importantly, I need more art, the pages need a little love when it comes to layout, and an editor.

This is why I am putting a $1 price tag on it, to raise funds to make these things happen. So for now you can purchase the barebones version of the product, and hopefully in the future I will be able to release the complete version.

If you do purchase this you have my undying gratitude, and I would love to hear about it if you use it your campaign. Thanks!

    • Grammar updates

V5 Edition:
  • Features
    • Exhaustion
    • Filth Pit
  • Updates
    • I have swapped out a few unsolicited anecdotes from Hraxet in the In your drunken stupor you wasted your money on... table. They weren't discouraging enough.
    • I removed the spider queen from the Arriving there you find... table, because it was just too complicated. I replaced it with something a little more open ended.
    • Reformatted the Addition Examples section because the table was just too busy.
    • Updated the rewards for scavenging
    • Updated the hungry mouth cost option for talismans to just cause the mutation instead of also reducing your presence. It was redundant and boring. Instead the mutation is debilitating in some way, and permanent. You better feed that mouth.
    • Updated the living furniture spell effect option for talismans to also trigger when people move stuff without your permission.
    • Updated the maze spell effect option for talismans to force the person B&Eing to have to make their way through 7 rooms made up of their nightmares instead of playing a guessing game, because that just sucks.
    • FINALLY ADDED 3RD PARTY DESCRIPTIONS TO MONSTERS. What I mean by that is they are indirect descriptions, ones written in the perspective of something or someone else.
    • Fixing general grammar and typos.

It would be wonderful if you could provide an alt, where the pages behind the art pieces are yellow instead of white.

The Darkbones edition has the yellow background art. I could also provide the art pieces separately with the content (both white and yellow art), if you'd like

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
