I've always felt that there was something not-quite-right with the way NPCs are handled in the game, with the vast majority of them being “stuck” at 0 level or 1HD with 4-6hp each, and the various patches and advancement options didn't seem to address the underlying issue. If you have ever felt the same, this supplement is for you.

It started in 2017 as a 10-page conversion/expansion of the 5 NPC classes in the SRD3.5. In early February of this year, I decided to take a break from working on the “Wilder System for Fantasy Games and Gamers” and the associated campaign setting, so I looked through my archives, picked this up, added Arcanist as a 6th class, gave it a thorough edit and sent it to Dimas to get his opinion. By his suggestion, I expanded it to link hirelings and their professions to the new NPC class System. Finally, to complete the task of creating interesting, more life-like NPCs, I added lots of small tables to give each NPC a unique appearance and personality, including quirks, hobbies and four new forms of insanity.

I appreciate people being different, I find this font difficult to read.

I apologize. There was a problem with the initial upload. Did you go back and get "Rev. 1" that was uploaded 2 or 3 days later? "Rev. 1" fixes the legibility of the overall text blocks, which is simply, "Times New Roman", or are you referring to the "script" type font used in the foreword (and here on the product page) or the "uncial" font used in the book's titles?

The script type used here as the forward/or pitch here on Drivethru

Ah, thanks for clarifying that for me. I felt that the cursive script gave the foreword a more personal touch, then that just transferred over to this page automatically. I apologize, but I totally forgot that they stopped teaching cursive in grade schools. I'll have to remember that going forward.

You're absolutely right, they must have stopped teaching cursive in schools. They also stopped teaching civility, politeness, and how to deal with potential customers. No worries though. I won't be one nor will I ever purchase any of your other products. Do have an absolutely delightful day though.

I apology if that sounded rude, but I was being serious. I read about this issue a few months ago, but honestly did forget. It's not meant as a slight on you, just the current education system, and I was serious that I won't use cursive script in future products. If you send me an email, wolf 1 @ ecity dot net, I will be happy to send you a complimentary copy.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
