New Assets for Ironsworn: Starforged!

This supplement adds in 32 new assets that you can use to create characters.  Inside you'll find:

Beyond the PDF with lore and design commentary, you also get print n' play asset cards and PNG files of the cards for uploading to your favorite VTT.

Using Assets for Other RPGs

First of all, if you're not playing Shawn Tomkin's Ironsworn: Starforged game, what are you waiting for?!  It's a great game that has all the drivers you need to make excellent sci-fi stories with just the right amount of grit.  Not only is the final Kickstarter version available right now digitally, but the physical version is on sale now as well.

As great as Starforged is, you could also use the assets provided here for character design in almost any other gritty, sci-fi system or setting.  That being said, a more narrative-based system would work best if you are porting this over to another game system.

Question about the Crew Member asset: Is there any guidance to taking multiple crew members? Is it just the one additional, or would/could you take the asset multiple times for multiple crew?

The official rule is that each asset is unique, but if you're playing a Trek-like game, I don't see any harm in taking it multiple times for different crew members. Just use the narrative framing to keep it balanced.

Hello. I may have missed this somewhere but on some of the cards you mention boost... I can't find what boost is... whats the effect of boost??? pretty please :)

So sorry I didn't see this! Usually I get an email when a comment is posted but I didn't see this one. "Boost" is explained on pg. 5, but it's "add +1 and take +1 momentum on a hit." I just got tired of typing the same thing over and over again. :)

Just bought this. Overall it feels good, starship modules and companions feel like they either add some nice Star Trek vibes or further expand on the Star Wars feel Shawn started. Art is nice, even the AI art, and the designer commentary is nice. Then we get to the Paths... half of them are alright and provide some boring but practical additions or alternatives to the core set that work and continue to add some nice Dune or Star Trek vibes. But a bunch of the Paths are basically comic book super powers (Cosmic Constructor, Quantum Tunneler) that don't really feel like they fit the tone of the rest of the product. They still work... but they don't have quite the same tone as the rest of the Paths or the setting you're trying to fit them into...

Thanks for your thoughts, and you are correct that I was going for some super hero scifi on some of the paths. It's not quite the original tone of the game, but comic books have had some good scifi stories, and I thought these paths were a nice middle ground to adding a bit of that flavor to the game.

Quick clarifying question; the Furball companions first ability says that stress can physically harm them and to make the 'Companion takes a hit' move when you 'Endure Harm'. Should that not be 'Endure Stress'?

Thank you! My original intention was 'Endure Harm' because you taking harm is what causes the furball stress, but it would work just as well with 'Endure Stress'. You could even have variant Furballs where one strain gets stressed out by seeing others enduring harm while another strain gets stressed out by being around others who are stressed themselves. They both can make sense, so absolutely play it the way that fits your version of the Forge best!

Thank you! Yes, POD for both softcover book and cards, but it will take 6-8 weeks as DriveThru approves the print files, prints the proof, ships it to me, and then waits for final approval. As long as everything is right the first time around, the POD stuff should be available late April. If there's a problem in the first proof, it could be May. It's a long process, but it's on the way!

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
