What is DayLITE: Manual Draconum Primer?

This is a primer into the new original dragon flights and their occupants that we are creating for the DayLITE system, a roleplaying game d12 system developed by Daylight Publications, LLC, that is meant to be rules-light and narrative heavy. In this document, we will preview for you six dragons with writing from Cameron Day and Laura Tutu, with sketches and concepts from Jen Forth.

This will allow you both a sneak peek of our larger book coming containing FIFTEEN total dragons, but also show you the templates that we will be providing in the full book to allow you as a wanderer or an Alder to use at your table for including dragons in your campaigns!

The DayLITE System is a roleplaying game d12 system developed by Daylight Publications, LLC. This system is open to use in commercial and personal TTRPG projects, but cannot be claimed as the product/creation of the publisher of this work, only of Daylight Publications, LLC., copyright 2023.

The Dragon Flights

Chrothian Dragons

Chrothian dragons are from the clutch of Chroit’aa, the Glistening Mother, one of the three primordial dragons going far back into ancient history. Chrothian dragons take on more animalistic features and traits that the other two dragon types, whether it be antlers, chiton-like armor, fur, paws, or feathers. This is because chrothian dragons are believed to be closely tied to the elements of the natural world, and as such also their flora and fauna. Dragons such as these are literal forces of nature, bringing rains and fertile soil and kind sun to wanderers when peaceful, but when angered, great storms and disasters follow them.

Mtlakan Dragons

The stalwart defenders of the mortal peoples of the world, the mtlakan dragons are from the clutch of Mtlakalkalan, the Shining Pillar, one of the three primordial dragons going far back into ancient history. Mtlakan dragons almost resemble technological beings to some, covering in great suits of armor forged from powerful metals. In truth, the true difference between these dragons are the orders they bind themselves to. Any of the other draconic families can become a mtlakan dragon by doing one simple task: showing that they truly value and wish to protect mortal life. It is here that Mtlakalkalan will recognize them and bequeath their armor to them, and then their form transforms into their new shape.

Dygnandi Dragons

Dygnandi dragons were the first of the dragon clutches to be born from one of the three primordial dragons: Dygnamdradon, the Rainbow Fang. This flight of dragons are intensely spiritual, gnostic, and almost ethereal. The values and properties associated with the crystals they represent has made spotting a dygnandi dragon - let alone speaking with one - the story of a lifetime. Many claim that before great events in history, a dygnadni dragon appeared to a character in that great epoch, and somehow granted them a boon. Because of this, dygnandi dragons are also treated with a level of distrust, seen as capricious and manipulative.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
