The Lords beckon you to their city of endless chaos!

Enter the city of Grimhaven, the Gothic-Venetian setting for D&D 5th edition! The five vampiric lords of Grimhaven purvey over their land as adventurers, guilds, and religious orders struggle for control. Grimhaven is an expansive setting containing enough lore for a level 1 to 20 campaign, but it also includes a large selection of player options and tools.

The deluxe edition of Grimhaven contains several exclusive additions:

  • A beautiful alternative cover depicting the completed hand of Uglaamok, resting in a bed of sandlines from the dream realm, all of which is described in-depth within the book.
  • An entire bonus chapter explaining the thought process behind our designs for several factions, religions, NPCs, and player options.
  • Several pieces of concept art from the design process of Grimhaven.
  • A playtest copy of the Lavinoth racial option. Unknowingly born from the debris of injured elder gods, the lavinoth presented in Grimhaven's deluxe edition includes three subraces: Shard-Spawn, Thirst-Spawn, and Mite-Spawn!

Players have access to a wide variety of new options in Grimhaven, including the following:

  • 9 new racial options, including the sewer-monster Cresleuris, bark-skinned Albero, and plague-born maledict tieflings.
  • The all-new Visionary class. Explore the world as a divination-orientated spellcaster that can bend fate, delve into an object's past, and obtain the powers of death, chance, or battle, depending on your subclass choice!
  • 14 new subclasses across the core classes of D&D, each balanced to fit into any campaign but featuring gothic undertones. Conceal allies and maneuver the streets as a Roguish Smuggler, walk the battlefield harboring the magic of the dream realm through a warlock pact of the dream weaver, or even animate your magic using the wizard school of living spells!
  • 21 new spells spanning in use and level, including Amunden's Human Projectile, which launches your allies across the battlefield in a streak of energy, bludgeoning twist, which contorts a foe's muscles to wound them internally, and two counterspell alternatives to make fighting spellcasters more dynamic
  • Our brand-new group spellcasting system called Incantations. Harness these ancient spells as a party to call forth never-before-seen magic! Includes 13 incantation spells specifically designed for the system!
  • Eight new mundane weapons that feature never-before-seen weapon properties. Strike out with the elegant rope dart, break some skulls with your own pair of knuckledusters, or strike from nowhere with the cleverly disguised sword cane!
  • Two new find familiar options; Lavender Sea Serpents and Green Clags.
  • Two new magic-free forms of interplanar travel called Weave Surfing and Threshold Bounding.

DMs and fans of the gothic genre will have plenty to read too, with the following content included in the book:

  • An introductory chapter to Grimhaven contains everything from seasons and festivals to architecture and fashion.
  • 10 NPCs are described in-depth as the key characters of the setting, including Grimhaven's five vampiric lords and the maniacal Maledict Fiend - Uglaamok. Each of these NPCs comes with tips on transferring them to other settings in case you want to use them in your own world!
  • Nearly 40 minor NPCs are scattered across the book as examples of interesting faction members, DM alternatives to subclasses, and generally interesting characters in the campaign setting
  • 9 distinct districts of the city are broken down in detail, with each one containing unique cultures, organizations, and atmospheres.
  • 17 organizations (8 factions and 9 religions) are described in detail, including information on their standing with citizens, intentions, and frequent activities. Each deity's entry also contains two tables, one for good omens and another for bad omens, so DMs can easily indicate to players when they've pleased or displeased their god.
  • Tips for running art heists in Grimhaven, including the description of three artists and their high-priced art pieces that can easily be used as plot seeds for stories in Grimhaven or used in other settings as high-value targets for heists.
  • An entire chapter on the Nartethis - Mirkryn's realm of dreams. This includes 3 factions, each with its own in-depth lore and culture, alongside various locations of interest and lore on how dreams function in our setting.
  • 23 new stat blocks for use in your campaign. Each new monster comes with tips on how they can be integrated into other campaign settings easily!
  • An appendix filled with useful slang and terminology that can be used in-game.
  • An appendix containing plot seeds, tips for running games in Grimhaven, and a tool for planning out a plotline for 5e!

PUBLISHER
We've updated the webpage with information on what Grimhaven's deluxe edition includes compared to the standard edition. It's the same content as what Michael listed above (thank you for that Michael <3) but in addition to it, we've added the Lavanoth playtest race!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
