D6 Random Fantasy Dungeon Generator #1

[Basic Corridors and Room]

d6 Random Fantasy Dungeon Generator | Map Tiles | Playable Example Map

A simple but effective Fantasy themed Random Dungeon Generator for virtually all contemporary or OSR Roleplaying Systems. All that is needed are a print/PDF of the Generator, two different coloured 6-sided dice, pencil, and squared paper: the PDF features a 3x3 grid of eight dungeon corridors and one room. Choose one of the coloured dice for the grid’s horizonal axis and the other for the grid’s vertical axis. Roll both dice at the same time and read the horizontal dice result first and then the vertical dice result to identify the randomly selected dungeon element.  This element is then transferred onto the squared paper to build the dungeon. The more you roll, the bigger the dungeon, making the Generator suitable for extensive planned delves, the creation of a small dungeon or a quick side quest/mission on the fly.

This 6 page Product features the Random Dungeon Generator, the nine dungeon elements converted into Print and Play map tiles for your tabletop and playable example map (the first level of Thrark’s Keep) created using the dungeon elements included in the Generator.

Due to the random nature of the dice rolls, no two Dungeons will be the same,

allowing you to create an infinite number of dungeons with just this one Generator.

The Generator comes with a variety of predetermined doors as well as areas to place Wandering Monsters and Traps that are in line with your chosen gaming system. There is also a simple d6 system for spawning that most ubiquitous of dungeon threats – RATS! See the illustration below to see these icons on the tiles themselves and their meaning in the Dungeon Key. The printable dungeon tiles are free of these icons.

INCLUDED WITH THIS PRODUCT ARE A PRINTABLE SET OF DUNGEON TILES: print them out onto cardstock and simply cut out around the black outline using scissors or a craft knife and metal ruler and you can physically build your dungeon on the tabletop!  You can either randomly generate the dungeon using the dice mechanism described above and then print out all the parts you need to recreate the map on the tabletop OR print a number of the tiles, cut out and piece them together as you want to create your labyrinth. You can even print them out and draw them at random, piecing them together to create the dungeon as you play and so creating a fog of war feel as your PCs move through the dungeon. Please see the artwork for these tiles on the illustration above.

The Generator is provided as an A4 PDF and has been designed in greyscale to save you printer ink.

Detailed instructions and an example roll are explained on the Generator itself.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
