SHOTGLASS ADVENTURES#1: The Madness of St. Avon

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Ever long for the days of simple one-shot adventures with everything included on one page? No hassle, limited prep? Something you could throw at your players and finish in one session?

My first One-Page scenarios for 5e were released in 2019 in Shotglass Adventures, Volume 1. Since then, my creations have grown in scope, but I‘ve always longed for a return to the simpler One-Page One-Shot format that won me the One-Page Dungeon Contest two years running (in 2019 and 2020).

And that’s what this is. The Madness of St. Avon is a One-Page One-Shot for 1st-level characters for 5e and OSR systems, including full stat blocks for both 5e and OSR/1e monsters, and gridded and grid-less maps.

This may have an obvious answer that I've missed but is there an option to buy the map ready for Roll20 and VTTs?

Hi Jacob,

At some point I plan to do a release of maps for this series for VTT, but that won't be for a while. In the meantime, I suggest a screenshot using either ALT Print Screen or using a screen capture program like Lightscreen (which is a handy portable app that makes screenshots super easy).

Cheers

Steve :)

Hey there!
Can you please explain, what the red line on page 11 between room 5 and 9 means?
The map on page 11 is also the only map, that shows it.

Thanks!

Hi Sven,

That line is the trip wire the kobolds set to ambush the PCs. It's only on the DM's map as it may be hidden to PCs without a high enough passive Perception.

Hey!
I think we are not talking about the same red lines. I guess you are refering to the trip wire set in room 6.
What I mean is, when go left from the ladder in room 9, there comes a thin wall and on the other side, of the wall, there is the hole emitting the gas in room 5.

If you know check the map on page 11 of the document, then there are 2 red lines exactly on the wall. They are only on the map on page 11 - the gridless player map.

Hi Sven,

Sorry it took awhile to get back, I didn't know you had posted another question (DrivethruRPG doesn't inform me - I have to go through each product to see if there is a discussion. I don't know why it works like this). I only just saw your response.

To answer, the two lines mark the tunnel that passes through the wall from Area 8 to Area 9. The tunnel is at the bottom of the pits in those rooms, so it's not at the same level as the cavern floors.

Cheers

Steve :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
