700 Lordly Houses

The Story

There is the power of the throne, and then there is true power. The seven hundred Lordly Houses have long held the true power in this part of the world. This theme adds six major lordly houses and a host of lesser houses and their rulers, webs of alliances, intrigues, clashes, and politics to your game.

Your adventurers will learn the art of acquiring power, and will cast bitter rivals into ruin and disgrace. Inevitably, they will be pulled into alliance with one or more houses, making allies and enemies alike, and their actions may put them at the head of their own lordly house. But remember, the higher the house, the further the fall!

Social characters such as bards and rogues will shine, but 700 Lordly Houses is suitable for any type of character. There are opportunities for intrigue, as well as more straightforward adventures at the bequest of the lords.

The Structure

Written by Wolfgang Baur, the founder of Kobold Press, this adventure module is system-agnostic. You can use it with your game system of choice. You will need to create stats for the characters and monsters at an appropriate level for your players. 

There is a linear central plot line, experienced by visiting a variety of unique locations and running specific adventures.  The remaining points of interest and adventures can show up anywhere in your world you wish, and add to the narrative flavor and depth of this module. Also included are a list of rumors – some true, some not so true – that your NPCs can relate to the players.

The 61 page PDF contains 7 high quality adventure maps, and includes portraits of 40 important NPCs. 

All maps, portraits, and major images are also available as separate files for use in a Virtual Tabletop (VTT), or to otherwise share with your players.
