Dracula, the Great Old One - a Zgrozy supplement

Of all people in history, Dracula has perhaps come closest to the Outer Gods. He understood their powers and nature, but these are concepts that a human—no matter how powerful—can barely contain in their head. The count did not so much go mad as changed his perspective.

Dracula, The Great Old One is an independent supplement for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition. Inside you'll find:

  • A description of count Dracula as an immortal sorcerer living beyond Earth's space-time and inspiring research by occultists and pseudo-scientists for centuries.
  • Rules for navigating Dracula's non-Euclidean castle and descriptions of its many inhabitants, mortal and immortal.
  • Spells inspired by Dracula's powers and unique forms of insanity caused by contact with him.
  • A reinterpretation of other characters from the Dracula novel, adapted to the new vision of the Count himself.

The final part of the supplement contains two campaign outlines:

  • Dracula's Maze (Gaslight Era): The Count's influence over Europe is growing. In London, Paris and Vienna, spells invoking his powers are becoming easier to use, and random alleys and corridors begin to connect to the endless chambers of his castle. Why is this happening? How to stop it?
  • Dracula's Age (Classic era): A group of conservative Hungarian occultists try to restore the glory of their country by using Dracula's power. At first, they seem to have achieved an impressive success, but the situation is soon spiraling out of control and another war looms over Europe.

By buying Dracula, the Great Old One, you’ll receive two full-color versions of the supplement (in high and low graphics quality) and a printer-friendly version without graphic elements. As a bonus, you’ll also receive separate image files with all handouts introduced in the supplement, as well as two audio files with the Polish pronunciation of the word "Zgrozy", one of them calm and one slightly terrified.

Dracula, the Great Old One is part of the Zgrozy line. To find out more, visit our Facebook page (/ZgrozyEN) or see our other English releases. “Zgrozy” is a slightly archaic Polish word for “Horrors” or “Terrors.” Following advice from English-speaking Cthulhu fans, we decided to keep the original title for foreign releases, since it sounds suitably unspeakable and blasphemous to non-Polish ears.

Hi, Marek!. I'm gonna buy this awesome supplement in short time, that's for sure, but I'm also equally interested in other title of the Zgrozy line, "Carmilla". Of course, my question is: any plans for an upcoming English traslation?.

Hi, Bartolo! Thank you very much for your kind words and your interest :)

We plan to translate Carmilla sometime in 2023, but its author is quite busy now and we can't promise any definite date :)

Hi! Thank you for asking and for taking interest in this release!

Unfortunately, I can't just send you the English version, as it's more expensive due to additional English proofreading and other extra steps that went into preparing it. But I created a link allowing you, if you'd like, to buy Dracula for the difference between its Polish and English price ($2.99):

The link will be active til Sunday, as it will be public and I can't have 50% discounts available publicly forever ;)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
