Legendary Investigators

Selected Option:

It's Elementary!

Legendary Investigators is the latest volume of our class-focused Pathfinder Roleplaying Game player supplements, this time focusing on the detectives, scientists, magic-dabblers and scholars that are encompassed by the investigator class. The legendary investigator redesigned the core class, making certain abilities usable earlier like studied strike, and shifting it to a 5-level casting class but allowing for a wider breadth of study, ability, and training through its 19 different Courses of Study like engineering, naturalism, and the occult. In addition, you get new investigator talents that compliment some of the courses as well as assessment talents that leverage your knowledge against your foes. Complement this with archetypes that shift the focus further like the face-changing and sneaky infiltrator and the old-magic using malice binder, as well as feats Addicted to provide give-and-take dynamics with your character's inner demons and vices. Whether trying to catch the killer fleeing across rooftops, finding the weakness of the monstrosity threatening the city, or digging deep into the dusty tomes of a massive library, the legendary investigator can use their wits and know-how to get the job done. Grab this amazing 42-page Pathfinder Roleplaying Game class expansion today and Make Your Game Legendary!

I've only just quickly skimmed the rules, but I have a question: Are there any guidelines for making a 'spell-less' Investigator?

I know the class is meant to be used in a Fantasy campaign, but the 'classic' idea of a Investigator only uses his intelligence and observational skills, not rely on spells.

Maybe an expansion of the abilities the Investigator can use by spending Inspiration points (like the Gunslinger with Grit)?

Hey Charles,

Author here! There is one spell-less option in the Malice Binder that still has supernatural abilities. Replacing magic is really, really tough. Any amount of abilities would have difficulty replacing the versatility and power of spellcasting. So, if I were to give you guidance for a completely mundane, spell-less version of the investigator, I would tell you to give them an investigator every even level (which would effectively be a investigator talent every level except for 1st). Or you could add one at 2nd and every 4 thereafter and give it the skirmisher options for the Ranger.

So, no guidance in the book besides the Malice Binder, but There are some options for you above, direct from me!

I see. Well, "Thanks!" for the reply ^_^

Reason I asked was I was thinking about running a PF1E version of the Ravenloft setting 'Masque of the Red Death', and the thought of including a 'Sherlock' type character fits well (although, for some strange reason I could easily see Sherlock casting Magic spells now......^_^)

Sherlock was a skilled chemist if I recall my Arthur Conan Doyle! There are several courses of study that could fit the various iterations of Sherlock in there. I'd love to hear how it works for you!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
