Pocket Space RPG is a complete role-playing game for a fun night of space exploration and taking control of your fate amongst the stars. Using only one d6, Pocket Space RPG was created for those times when someone cancels on game night and the rest of the group is wondering what to do. It was also created with new or young players in mind. Howdy! First of all, I love how lean your system is. I've been fiddling with Pocket Fantasy and it plays lightning fast which is huge for me. However, I'm a massive scifi nerd and had to check this one out too. Reading over it, I love it already! But I am very much a 'want to feel it in my hands' kind of person so I had a question: did you have any plans to put out a PDF similar to what Quest Givers did with Pocket Fantasy? I adore this little booklet I can stick in my pocket alongside a couple dice and just play wherever I end up and would love to have one for Pocket Space as well.

Thanks so much in advance and big thanks for making the whole thing! I'm trying to do my own system and yours has given me a ton of inspiration!

Thanks for the kind words Alan, they mean a lot. Unfortunately, as of now, there is no discussion to make a “pocket” sized edition of Pocket Space RPG like the Quest Givers version of Pocket Fantasy RPG. My apologies, but if something changes I will most certainly have that version available and let you know about it.

Good luck with your system and knowing that it has inspired you makes all the work that went into my games that much more worth it.

Hi, I picked this up (with Robots and Horror) because i was intrigued and it was inexpensive, and you can never have too many SciFi RPGs, even if just for inspiration.
One thing, my eyesight isn't the best and the format is not ideal for me... is there any chance of a more accessable version reformatted to a more standard single column Portrait page... rather than 3 columns per landscape A4 page... ie a more standard format please? Same for Robots and Horror too would be great.
Thanks for the great work.

Thanks for picking it up and the kind words! I’ll try to provide a different format in the future but not sure how soon I can get to it. I’ll comment back when I have more information.

Thanks for the quick response.... I wasn't expecting you to drop everything and do it overnight :)

Sometime next week will do ;P

I can use it as is on my screen zoomed, so not a massive problem, but for printing at some time in the future it would be ideal. Whenever you do get a chance, that would be brilliant.
A lot of RPG's aren't formatted with old eye's in mind :)

I love stuff like this and like what you have done with it.

I really appreciate the praise. Just so I know, did you try printing it out at 108%? That will give me a starting point when I work on it.

Thanks for the reply again... so, as a UK based player, I use A4, so 'fit to page' when printing, which ends up being maybe 97% at a guess.

So, in summary, the main thrust of my request is that the font is way too small, too much crammed onto a single page, 3 columns etc

Ideally, *for me*, a more tradional single column per page, larger font, formatted to support portrait and A4 or Even A5 booklet.
I get that this completely changes the style you opted for, increasing the page count etc, but with my eyesight, its the only practical way i can use this in printed form.

I have a question concerning spaceship combat: The enemy spaceships always attack BEFORE the gunnery position? Or is there some kind of initiative?

My earlier design had an initiative step and it made space combat more complicated when choosing when to be offensive and defensive. I have considered adding a sentence that says all damage is done simultaneously to show combat in a more abstract way, spanning an amount of time (kinda like older D&D where a round of combat would be a series of attacks, blocks and ultimately resulting in HP loss. Not a single swing of a weapon). My goal is always to make the game fun, and maybe having the enemy attack first goes against that goal. I will continue to look at it and see if it needs to be changed. Thanks for the question. Space combat has been a real challenge and I want to make sure I get it as right and ultimately fun without being too complicated (which it already is compared to other parts of the game since it involves multiple characters working together).

Well, you have knocked it out of the park. In all sci-fi RPGs the main problem was the space fights. They were either way too complex to bother with, or only the pilot did something. But this "Assigned to positions" thing is awesome, everyone is useful.

Thanks! I like easy to print, easy to grasp art that doesn’t break the printer ink if someone wants to print it out. Same goes for the products themselves.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
