The advanced mason cannon and advanced particle cannon have the same stats as the base versions except they are more expensive. What’s the advantage? Under main guns it says the meson cannon and graviton disrupter ignore armor, but the former is listed as reducing armor one level lower previously and the latter is not mentioned anywhere else. Do they ignore armor or reduce it one level?

Adding to the confusion, the gravity, Cherenkov, and meson weapons are missing their modifiers on the weapon charts. It is thus unclear what their actual modifiers should be.

The "9" result is missing from the Animal Armor Table. I assume it should result in "3" armor? How do you apply the Defeat Armor and Armor Breaker Traits if using armor as a penalty to hit instead of reduction to damage?

This is a nice version of the 2D6 space engine. The piece that it lacks, something that was fundamental to a game starting with a T, is the randomness of character creation. No roll to qualify for a career, no roll to continue in a career, no roll to advance in the career. The emergent role-playing and narrative that resulted from those steps is lacking in this version.

A question regarding skill advancement. Does it mean that if players meet together for a session, it would take 20 sessions to advance a single skill? Then another 20 sessions to advance a different skill? For a total of 40 sessions to advance two skills? And once a week the players meet together it would take 10 months to advance those skills?

Skills are a Big Deal in this ruleset. During character generation, it takes over an in-game year to acquire a skill. You can have faster training (say, 5 XP per session), but then characters will advance quite unplausibly fast.

I believe that this can be accomplished when PDFs are created with layers. Customers can then disable layers that contain certain visible elements in the PDF.
For example, don't want the borders? If there's a layer for the borders, you can click a button and disable the layer in your PDF reading software. Adobe Acrobat Reader can enable/disable visible layers. It doesn't appear that this PDF has layers at this time, however.

Small bit of constructive criticism, for any future revisions. The book has colored borders on every page. It'd be neat and useful of the color of the borders changed for every main section of the book. Such as blue for character creation, red for starship creation, yellow for referee advice, etc. Or if changing the color doesn't work, changing the pattern of the stripes might. In theory, this would make it easier to quickly move between the sections while at the table.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
